Did anybody see this?
Mr Hydras, who was born in Greece but is now a US citizen living in Washington DC, caught the hexapus with his daughter Areti, ten, and son Arion, six, off the Pelion peninsula.
The dude is GREEK! He knew local custom because he was a local!

if there's one thing I know, it's that only Americans kill animals and drive them into extinction.

You're being sarcastic, but of course people aroud the world do this horribly. Poachers in Africa, China and Japan have some very bad habits.

While we're are it for those who don't know, we're currently in the 6th great extinction in history, the first that's man-caused.

Amazingly little publicitiy for such a huge and terrible event, wiping out many species quickly.

It's not American at all to find an animal, kill it, and take it to a tavern to be cooked. That's apparently a tradition in some other country. Whoa! It turns out that the person the OP is referring to only emigrated to the US. Hmmm.

That is awesome! I think it should be an American custom.

America is after all a melting pot. We take the best customs from all over the world!

I'm Greek and let me tell you something: not only do we eat kalamari (squid, fairly intelligent), but if chtapodi (octopus) were caught, that sucker is getting sta karvouna'd.

Except for me. I hate squid.

Like I said, this is a Greek thing, not American. (I'm Greek-American and have lived there off and on)

Greek smash things against rocks to kill it. Common with squid and octopus.

It sounds like Broheim is more ignorant than any American he is trying to make feel bad for being American.

Yet, Broheim won't own up to it.

And fuck, the name in the article couldn't be more Greek than Yanni himself hitting the OP with a leg of lamb.

Never let facts get in the way of some American-Bashing.

Normally the stereotype would be that the American should be fat, utterly uninterested in visiting any other part of the world, and unwilling to eat anything that wasn't deep fat fried and came through a drive-thru window.

But the stereotype can be altered to any degree necessary if the end result is some good old American-Bashing!

This "hexapus" does in fact appear to just be a DNA misfire of a regular octopus. Eliminating it from the gene pool is probably doing the octopi a favor, since ditching two of their legs certainly doesn't seem like it would have an evolutionary advantage.

This thing was going to get eaten by something eventually. I'm not sure it being a human is any more tragic than if it had been one of it's fellow sea creatures.

I see this as no different than accidentally shooting a doe with antlers, outrage not found.

I'm amazed that no one has started the American Society of Saving Hexpus's from Aggressive Tourists. What the hexapus needs is equal rights under the law!

The Hexpus has the same rights as the Octopus, only, it has less arms, so, I imagine it might be slightly less tasty.

Apparently, this isn't an endangered species, it's just a birth anomaly. Nothing wrong with grilling it.

OP is an established American basher and apparently has broadened his horizons to include non-Americans.

Should've gone to Olive Garden, I'm sure they'd throw it in one of their many microwaves.

spread the misconception more!
the meals aren't frozen, the only thing frozen are the sauces and filled pastas. Both of which need to be frozen for transportation purposes. Everything else is fresh, the meats, the cheese and all the vegetables as well.

I've tried searching and none of the big name restaurants simply microwave their entrees. There are plenty of former employees who wouldn't hesitate to say so, but it's not out there.
