Continued from the previous thread.

Post here if you need some help or if you have some answers about getting various deals and promotions posted in Hot Deals. Please keep replies brief and on topic. Long discussions will only clog up the thread and make it difficult for anyone to find the answers they need.

Please do not post coupon numbers or links to sites that would be prohibited in other posts.

Requests for deals on specific items should be posted in the ~~~~ IWANNA ~~~~ thread.

Raves and rants about good and bad deals and vendors questions should be posted in the ~~~~ Brag & Moan ~~~~ thread.

Thank You, and enjoy yourselves here while lending a hand to your fellow forum members.

Could I do this...

Go to Circuit City pay 335 dollars.

Pricematch to Best buy to lower it to 235.

Send rebate to Circuity City for 100 dollars.

End up paying 135?

this is dumb but how do you pricematch something B&M?
do you just walk in with a printout from the other vendor's website?
what information do they need?
and how do i know which stores PM and which ones don't?

thank you!

I just got the maxtor 80gig hard drive from the deal last week and I'm wondering if the UPC is a big sticker on the side of the box. I've really only dealt with Seagates and WD hard drives recently and their UPC's looked quite different. I don't really see anything else on the box that could be a UPC so I'm pretty sure this is it but I wanted a little confirmation.

Also, since I ordered this online from OD, what do I use as the receit? Do I use the form that was included with the order or do I just print the order page from their website off? Anyway, thanks in advance for the help.

Well it doesn't appear that anybody's helping these people out (unless they are getting PMs) but I'll ask a question too.

Regarding black friday deals, I saw that Target's going to be selling the GBA (old design) with Super Mario Advance 4 (which is the old NES SuperMario 3, right?) for 54.99. I want this deal, so is the best thing to do to go in and purchase the stuff now, then go back on Black Friday and pricematch to the sale price? I guess if it's a bundle that's only offered on that Friday morning, then I'd need to wait until then to get it? But say for other deals I want to get - you buy them NOW, then pricematch in store on Friday? Can you still pricematch to Friday's sale price on Saturday or Sunday after the crowds subside?

Thanks.

Just a note to the moderators: nobody looks at this thread. I think it's a waste of thread space...

If you're going to the store, you can either bring a copy of the ad or usually you can bring the phone number of the store with the cheaper price. Some CSR's will be a-holes and will refuse to call but most will call and verify the price.

CC has it setup where you can only do one or the other. So either the MIR or the price match. Sucks but it's still worth a try to try to get the rebate.

I'm not too sure about the UPC symbol ( Might want to call the store and check with them)

As far as the receipt, I normally just send them copies of everything. As far as the order page as well as the confirmation email.

I was wondering about a rebate situation:
I purchased a laptop from CC and price matched it to BB. I was wondering if CC will give me any problems about the rebates? Please let me know. Thanks.

My experience with CC is that they'll either let you do a PM or a rebate, not both.

My wife scored on a few $50 Target gift certificates to use to buy a new TV. But Sears has a sale (that ends tomorrow) and it's $35 less. If we bought the TV at Target (using the GCs and paying mostly by Visa), then returned it because it was cheaper at Sears, would they give us GCs back, or would they credit the whole amount to Visa? If they PMed, that'd be fine with me, don't have any loyalty to Sears or anything.

Nocturnal says:
I'm pretty sure they would refund you in store credit for the GCs and whatever you paid with the Visa would be refunded to the Visa.
And HappyPuppy suspects I'd even get to pay a restocking fee. Rats.

My experience with CC is that they'll either let you do a PM or a rebate, not both.

But the buyer has the most power since you can request the PM, then go home and print the rebate

Hello,
I need help trying to reach Anandtech HotDeals forum member Steven Benario. He PM'd me to ask permission to use my company for an MS Partners deal. I agreed, and everything went well, except....I'm now receiving some of the software that he paid to receive. I'd try to contact him but I can't seem to find the PM message nor his user info.

He just needs to update his info with Microsoft...a simple phone call.

Thanks!

Type it into google (with area code). Has always worked for me, so long as its a listed number.

hello,

if I ordered online multiple products which all had MIR for them, how can I send in the original packing slip to each address (if the addresses are different)? All the products would be listed in a single packing slip and no photocopies are allowed...

do they consider the receipt you get thru email good enough? if so i could just print multiple copies of that....

thanks...

Can I use OM coupons on rebate items?

I got a $25 off $100 and a $10 off $40 purchase coupon in the mail.
They both say, "Not to be used in conjunction with any other promotion."
Does this mean using them to buy a product on rebate will void the rebate?

$10 off the $40 down but $5 after rebate CD-RW would mean I'd make $5 on the deal.
$10 off the $40 down but $20 after rebate 128MB USB Flash Drive would make it $10.

To get the $25 off $100 I could add up ...
$40 down but $5 after rebate CD-RW
$89.99 down 80GB WD HD but $40 after rebate
for a total of $15 spent after coupon and rebates.

The $25 coupon has a 17 digit code of alpha and numeric digits
The $10 coupon has a 16 digit code of numeric digits.
They both expire on 3/20/04.

Thanks

*** UPDATE ***
OM phone orders wont take coupons on rebate items.
The Phone CSR said B&M's shouldn't take them
He doesn't know if or how the rebate processors would know if you used a coupon.

He said a store may take it but they shouldn't.
I would think the stores would be aware of this and read the fine print on coupons if it's on a rebate item.
However, the cashier doesn't know if it'a a rebate item until it prints the rebate receipt.
If it prints the rebate receipt, I would think it would list the price of the individual item and the rebate would be good.
I doubt that they track specific order numbers to see what transpired in a transaction when the rebate company processes the rebate.

The old OM near me still prints rebate receipts.
The new one that is one town over told me that they no longer print rebate receipts.

An original receipt would show the coupon.
I don't think a rebate receipt would show evidence of a coupon used.

I don't know if the OM near me has the HD that I could get for $15 if I get to use a coupon and get the rebate.
I know they don't have the CD-RW.

The OM a town over does have the CD-RW but they don't print rebate receipts.
The CD-RW is $5 after rebate.
I have a $10 off coupon which would mean they'd be paying me $5 to take the CD-RW.
I could add some small office supplies to ad $5 - $10 to the total if they squaked.

An 80GB HD for $15 would be sweet.
$40 for it without the coupon isn't worth it.

Anyone happen to know how to subscribe to Dan's Deals? It sends you all the new postings from the hot deal sites every hour. I've had it forever and now it stopped coming. If you know what I'm talking about please send me the address I need to subscribe. it's something like subscribe.dansdeals@earthlink.net or something.

Thanks a lot
