I always look on my own since my passengers won't be the ones who pay for the repairs if they are wrong.

i always check myself. i'll never listen to someone telling me to DO something, but i'll always double check if someone tells me NOT to do something.

MUCH better than most...and no, I do not depend on my passengers to tell me whether it's clear to go or not. If I'm behind the wheel, I'm responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle...

(of course, if a passenger happens to see something I missed...or some idiot blows a stop sign/stop light, they're welcome to tell me about it...
