150+ mph S8
160+ mph modded 1995 Carrera 4

* All cars were bought ( legally ) in Switzerland, all of them were damaged in some way and were restored/rebuild in an unnamed Eastern European country I co-owned the Carrera for three months, but we sold it when I moved back to US. I had also drived a loaner 355 Spider in St. Tropez for a couple days, but I was too scared to push it past 120.

An indicated 160mph on my 97 Suzuki Katana 750. Actual speed was prolly around 153-155mph, though. This was on a 2-mile stretch of flat, level road w/no intersecting streets or other traffic. We used to call that stretch "God's Dragstrip." Then one of the damn trailer trash locals that live in the shacks up on the hills called the TXDPS. They chased us off w/a damn HELICOPTER. I must say, I crapped my pants! :Q We don't hang out there very often, anymore.

Anyway, that day, I must've had a big tail wind, because on subsequent runs of diff days, I couldn't break an indicated 145.

Lots of other sportbike riders give me crap about my Can'O Tuna (deragatory name for a Katana), but riding is 20% bike and 80% rider. When it comes down to it, I can absolutely smoke an inexperienced rider on a much faster bike, on a twisty road!

150 on a GSXR 750 (achieved in less than a half mile, inside the city, on a road that had no sidestreets, from a dead stop at a traffic light.)

135 in an older Nissan Pulsar

the bike felt a lot safer at 150 than the car did at slower speed

I've found that the less scary method of going that fast is to start from dead stop, and red-line it all the way up.
When you're accelerating quickly, it seems to handle the speed much better, IMO.

Everyone saying they went 140 mph in a mid-60's street car is full of beans. The speedometer might have said that, but that doesn't mean that's how fast you were going! Speedometers of that era were WILDLY inaccurate.

Here's an example: 1969 Corvette, standard 4-speed transmission gear ratios, 3.73 rear axle ratio, 7000 RPM engine redline, stock tire diameter. Doing the gear ratio math, 7000 engine RPM in 4th gear equals 129 mph. In this case the spedometer read about 140-145, which is physically impossible given the machinery involved. So do I say I went 129 or 145?

And is a 60's GTO or Mustang with ~345 GROSS horsepower, and shaped like a brick, just as fast as an '02 Corvette with 375 NET horsepower and good aerodynamics? I doubt it. Actually, no way.

How did I know the Hayabusa rider was going to have some sick number?

That fastest I have ever gone was in my 1967 Mustang.

I had the needle pinned for ten minutes. the speedo went to 100 or 110 so I was going at least that fast. I don't think there was a tight screw left on the car after that trip.

Man I loved that car.

140+, interstate, 1996 Camaro SS. Not sure of exact speed but last I looked it was a hair over 140 and I still had my foot in it heavy for a couple of seconds before a pickup in the right lane started coming into my view very, very quickly...lol Funny how everyone else looks like they are veering wildly in their lane when you are coming up on them that fast. Scared the crap out of me and I shut her down then. He probably wasn't, but he sure looked drunk to me at that moment, haha. Of course he had probably looked back in the rear view, and was thinking the very same thing. "Look at this crazy drunken bastard coming up behind us Martha!!!"

Car: Audi A8 4.1L V8
Place: A5 Frankfurt ---> Darmstadt Germany
Time: 1:45 AM
Speed: 235 Kph
Unfortunately I wasn't driving... we were 5 people in the car though so 235 is not bad going.

My personal Self-Drive fastest was 220Kph in driving school (I kid you not!)
It was in the schools then brand new 1998 BMW 320d.
The instructor told me while on the highway that me driving 130 - 140 kph all the time was well and good but I could pull over on to the left lane and let 'er stretch her legs... he didn't have to say that twice

With me driving, I've had my poor Beretta up to 115 when the governor kicks in. (I-20 coming back from Lubbock for the Texas locals)

Without me driving, 145+ in a '99 Vette on the 3 lane access road to the I90 tollway. I swear to god that car is better than sex :Q

170mph in a 911 turbo
Officially: 121 in a '99 vette (that's what the ticket said )
Unofficially: 155 - I had let off the gas and was coasting when I saw the cop 3/4 of a mile up the road take off and start building up speed, decided it wasn't worth the effort to run...
