How is Klipsch with warranties?

My right speaker just died A WEEK after the one year warranty. They sent me an email that they cant replace is since its out of warranty so I sent them a begging email basically. Have they given anyone else a break or do they usually stick to their policy to a T?

Klipsch has changed on this from what I have read. 4 years ago when my promedia 2.1 overheated and died after warranty (4 months), a phone call got them to send me a brand new one with instructions on how to send the dead set back. This happened twice (perhaps the earlier 2.1's were prone to overheating?) and they treated me very well both times, no questions asked, no hassles, no delays.

Starting about 1 year ago, I began reading some less positive accounts, so ymmv.

Which model?

Perhaps their policy has changed. Lasy year my ProMedia 4.1 amp died. Original 4.1 set purchased in 2000. So, slightly out of warranty. I was instructed to ship the sub amp and control satellite back on my dime, and for $60 on a CC they'd repair it and ship it back on their dime.

Three weeks later FedX dropped a very large box from Klipsch off. Inside was a brand new ProMedia Ultra 5.1 system! Included was a letter stating "we can't get parts to repair your equipment and we hope this system satisfies you."

Well, yeah!

I dunno, I think it's unreasonable to ask them to warranty something that's out of warranty, even if it's a day. The amp in my 5.1 pro media set died. They paid the shipping of the amp back to them. However, because the pro media set wasn't in production anymore, they sent me an entirely new, retail boxed set of the pro media ultras as a replacement.

its a value consumer product, they generally aren't going to bend over backwards to help, generally can't afford to. did it die at the amp or did the speaker die? try one ofthe other speakers on that output. you can buy replacement sats for about 20 from their site
