i read all the reviews online that i could find, and it seems to be one of the better 24" LCDs out there for the price. glad i bought it.

now i've read about the secret menu to find out what kind of panel it is but i dont know exactly how to get in there. also, are there also some settings in the menu that i should enable/disable/try out? cause im sure you guys have tweaked/fiddled with your monitors and got it set up the right way...

thanks in advance!

To enable service menu:
Power off monitor
Press menu button and "+" button (and hold them) while powering on the monitor
Release menu button and "+" button once the monitor's green LED is lit

Now press "-" button to enter the service menu.

Of course you should change settings in the monitor's menu to your liking. That's the point of all those adjustable items in the menu. If you get an A04, you're all set unless you have dead pixels or some other panel defect.

It's a great monitor. I got my A04 back in March so your 2407 should be an A04 as well.

Does it say Rev A04 on the box or on the back? What are the chances of NOT gettin' A04?

Mine is due this week also...

I am considering getting a Dell 2407 later this year as well as a new video card. (Hopefully prices drop a little bit more, would be nice) As far as Revisions go I think all that are being shipped out are A04 which you can usually tell above the barcode.

Anyways, since this monitor supports DVI and VGA is it possible to hook up 2 separate video inputs (like say 1 from PC another from PS2/3) and switch between them using some type of button? Or is it automatically detected?

The bar code on the box (and I think monitor S/N) show the revision. I got a Rev A04 from Dell.ca in late March. I have not heard of ANYONE getting an A03 since February so you are fine.

vhx: Yes you can hookup all the separate inputs, e.g. PC on DVI, Xbox360 on VGA, HD cable box on Component and PS/2 on composite video and switch between all 4 using a button on the front of the monitor.

Yes, I have a PS2 and GC connected thru the S-video, an Xbox-360 connected thru VGA, an external TV Tuner thru VGA (has a passthru) and my Laserdisc through composite.

Yes you can toggle between inputs easily with the touch of a button however, you cant picture in picture or picture by picture using DVI and analog. Atleast on my A03

Bah! My Dell 2007FPW is rev A00. I don't see any banding issues everyone was bitching about when I got it a little over a year ago.

I see the banding issues when looking at color gradients. Other than that it's fine though. I love my A00 2007 too. S-IPS FTW. No input lag, great color reproduction, full 8-bit panel, great for watching DVDs, gaming, surfing the net, etc.

quite good actually. ive only tried out ut2k4 so far, but its solid at 60fps with 19 bots + myself with 4xAA/8xAF enabled at 1920x1200....everything maxed.

damn, im happy. i dont think ill need to upgrade the video card, as long as my games run at 1920x1200.

So far my only complaint with the panel is how the AT forums look. With the white background, its glaring to the eyes. There isn't a color scheme to darken the background, just change the colors on the borders either, so it makes the new forum layout painful to look at.

Edit - The Dark Grey seems to darken it a little, but its still painful at times.

you'll get use to it

mess with the brightness and color settings to your liking. once you set it to your likings, you'll love it even more
