i agree with the point regarding the air gong through the fan only seems cooler cuz it isnt stagnant, rather turbulant. i am not saying that you couldnt get the inside of your case cooler than room temp because with all that air pressure you have sort of created a sub-room with its own climate, so i guess it is very possible to get it colder....its like saying your living room couldnt be cooler than the rest of your house.

Its highly different when you're talking about a room. How can you take room temperature, pump in 100+cfm of it into your case, and despite all the heat producing items in your case(video card, Hard drive, cd-rom, ram, mb, sound card, etc cause it all adds up) have your case Ambient temp be lower than room temp?

The analogy of a room being different temps than other rooms would only apply with a room filled with 18 Halogen Torchiere's on High.

Unless your computer is in sleep mode, which in that case, with all fans going, your case ambient would end up being very close to room temp.

That's why I said I doubt it'd make much of a difference. Seeing as the fans are so small with so little output in comparison. But yes the room with the floor (or ceiling) fan will be cooler than other rooms. Why else would we even bother with them? Air movement is one thing but it does cool it down some, I'm not sure how the physics of it works but I know it does.

All fine and dandy for a room, will it make a significant difference to a case? *shrug* maybe, maybe not. The point where it gets too loud to hear your games pumping though your 300W speakers or when you have to weight your case down with your school text books maybe you should think about removing a fan or two, hehehe.

i certainly agree with mike...
it doesn't make sense to me that you can make the ambient case temp cooler than a room temp when there is heat producing components inside it...

the closest i've ever gotten my processor to ambient was 6-7C above the temp.
but if you had the case next to a window ... it would be a different situation...
some of you might have seen it lower in this case...
