Boris got a jolt from my electrode.I'm old to remember Bobby "Boris" Pickett doing The Monster Mash. My Dad yelled at me when I played it real loud the morning of my grandmother's funeral. TMI? Of course it is!
Anyway, I just came across this appropriately creepy close-up of Mr. Pickett singing it. Dig it, Daddio!
One of the greatest live shows I have ever witnessed in person was The Bonzo Dog Band in L.A. in the late 60's.Or the…”better” version of the song…
A dozen years ago I bought the first season of The Twilight Zone on Bluray. It's B&W and all sharp as a tack.
I wear my bike (bicycle) helmet now because my PT told me if I did have a head injury from a bike accident it would change my life forever. Showed her my helmet next time I saw her and have always worn it since on my bike (skates too).I feel like my kids wouldn't listen to me about wearing bike helmets if I didn't wear one, and I really want them to wear them without thinking about it!
Also my wife came off her bike in the frost and landed hard enough to crack the back of her helmet open! Pretty sure she'd have had a life changing injury if she hadn't been wearing one!
I look ridiculous normally so a helmet doesn't make that much difference!
I saw 5 of those groups (bolded). Janis (in Big Brother and the Holding Company) and Joe Cocker (with the original Grease Band) were nothing short of OMG amazing. Arlo played solo, sitting on a stool with acoustic guitar at The Whiskey A-GoGo on the Sunset strip, singing Alice's Restaurant, extended version.I saw The Beatles live in concert at the Montreal Forum as well as Dave Clark Five, Janis Joplin, Steppenwolf, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Joe Cocker: Mad Dogs and Englishmen, Johnny Winters And , Gerry and the Pacemakers, Pink Floyd (with Sid Barret), the Original Santana, Led Zepplin (twice) , Jethro Tull (twice)' and Arlo Guthrie. Quite possibly a few others as well that I can't remember.
It was a wonderful time to be alive. I really miss that era.Being a teen in the 80s kicked ass.
My girl and I would go to the movies all the time. Red Dawn, Back to the Future, Terminator, were incredible experiences. We saw them all multiple times. Miami Vice was must watch TV. I remember watching the Star Trek TNG premiere in our first apt. I was a little disappointed, but I knew the show was going to work because Gurney Halleck was the captain. Recorded it on my 4 head HIFI VCR, and played it on my all-in-one audio system (remember those dumb things where everything was integrated in a glass and wood or MDF cabinet?) At least my Cerwin Vega speakers were nice.It was a wonderful time to be alive. I really miss that era.
Funny thing, girls would try to chat me up when I was a pre-teen and even as a kid, women liked me a lot. My mom tells me that as a kid, women and even girls would grab me from her arms and hold me like they had never seen a cuter kid. And then puberty happened and suddenly even my own mom was afraid of me!My girl and I would go to the movies all the time.
The compromises we were willing to accept in those times. Buying cassettes and recording TV shows. Making sure to break the copy protect plastic in the notch to prevent accidental overwriting. Siblings recording their favorite things on my tapes containing my favorite things and the literal World Wars happening as a result. Mom trying to defuse the situation, sometimes with kindness and sometimes with a shoeRecorded it on my 4 head HIFI VCR
I used to love watching the Twilight Zone marathon on the holidays.A dozen years ago I bought the first season of The Twilight Zone on Bluray. It's B&W and all sharp as a tack.
But there’s nothing like the entire Labor Day weekend of the Jerry Lewis MDA telethon…I used to love watching the Twilight Zone marathon on the holidays.
I vaguely remember seeing that movie as well with my father and his partner at that time.I'm about to turn 45. I remember when I was 11 going to see Terminator 2: Judgment Day in the theater. What an amazing movie not only at the time but even now it still holds its own.
Hahaha keep telling yourself that.
Did any of them have three boobs?some very friendly local girls we met in the local town nearby.
Hmm..probably a business owner or an investor. Just a guessI'm 45. Remember the 80s and 90s very fondly. Mostly the 90s I guess.
Hey now! Remember the old saying, "Three boobs are better than none.Did any of them have three boobs?
