We did not have a TV. I watched the original Outer Limits at a friend’s house. Then had to ride my bike home in the dark. Ah, the good old days.

I'm old enough that colecovision was the first console I had, still remember playing the Star Wars wireframe game for that I thought it was amazing as a kid.

My best friend growing up, his parents had ON TV, was basically an A B switch behind the tv that you could change at 8pm and watch I think it was 2 movies per night, maybe one during the week and 2 on Fri, Sat. This was before Cable got ran through our town. I did see the first episode of MTV as well.

My cousin had WHT back in the 70s. Lots of softcore stuff. I recall the box had its own volume control. Ah, the bad old days.

Ah yes, The Bonzo Doo Dah Dog Band. Unique and weird. So fine!
Researching them online the other day I discovered that a gigantic release of their material is scheduled for Dec. 13. Includes 17CDs and 3DVDs. Testimony to their having a whole lot of fans still. AFAIK they dropped the "doo dah" from band name before release of any of the albums I'm familiar with, but in retrospect you see it. First I was aware of was "Urban Spaceman" album, which disappeared from my collection. My favorite is Tadpoles.

I am so old that I remember when people would raise the shades on the windows in an airplane. Now it is like flying in a bat sanctuary.

I am not afraid to admit that I am 59 years old. I have seen a lot of changes in those years.

Maybe specific to the flights you're taking? I've definitely seen quite a few shades up on my flights in the last few years (including mine, always up).

It's insane to me that humans exist who, when given the opportunity to soar through the sky like the gods of mythology, choose to not look! If I had my way, planes would have all glass bottoms so we could look and look and look.

My wife said when she turned 59 1/2 she was going to go into Fidelity and say "I would like $1,000 from my 401K please." That always seemed so far in the future during the HR meetings. Now we can both take money out of our 401Ks.

When I first started flying 40 years ago all the shades were up on the plane for the entire flight. Now there are more shades down than up. I like the aisle seat so I don't have any control over the shades. The 2 cross country flights I took this week were complete darkness in the back of the plane. If I sat by the window I would have it up the entire flight.

I flew yesterday, it was quite bright inside, most shades were up. I had a window seat on the sun penetrating side. I saw mostly clouds, the sky and the Pacific Ocean. If I had been on the other side window seat I probably would have seen the torched Pacific Palisades.

I always take a window seat if I can. Getting out of the plane quickly is of minimal concern. I rarely fly long trips. If I do, I figure maybe prefer an aisle seat so I get get the fuck up in a flash.

Got stuck in a middle seat a couple days ago. What a hell. Insane people on either side.
