Direct replacement PCB from Gigabyte as well as CPU from AMD..

Symptoms: Rebuild day today. New (tested) PSU and direct replacements installed. Built completed, power-on----- NO POST!

Low probability of DOA on PCB and CPU, although still a possibility. However, what are the chances of a video card smoking either? See Sig. Vid card is a 9800GT running off a 430W Thermaltake. PSU was replaced by a 530W Rosewill which was tested and running nominally.

All connections are good, build is 100%. The fault was when I literally touched the HDMI cable of the 9800 when the computer completely lost power. This IS during the PCB NOT posting.


Any and all help will be much appreciated.

You traded a PSU that doesn't have enough power for the system for one that may not have enough power and has very crappy quality. You need to get a good quality PSU that offers about 28A on the combined 12V rails. Its likly your current problem is due to isufficient power. As for the loss of power that could be from the PSU failing or a statick discharge that cause the system to shut down and possibly damaged the card.
