For what reason? From my perspective as a potential buyer, that's not hurting me, it's hurting you. You've seen other people echo Wingznut's philosophy about bumps, and I feel the same way. That means you're probably getting fewer bumps, not more.

I really don't understand how the "bump required for PM reply" attitude got started. Seems to me it's like shooting yourself in the foot. If you want to sell, why limit the number of potential buyers?

Actually the whole bump for PM thing sounds more like going grocery shopping, and for every item taken off the shelf, moving the next item behind it to the front of the shelf. (That's the store's job, not mine.)

On the other hand, if there were multiple items for sale, and I wasn't making an offer for all of them, I'd probably bump, since it would be courteous.

I always bump when sending a PM. Aside from just plain courteous, I want the seller to get the email saying someone replied to the thread. When I'm selling, I don't require it because I understand some folks don't want to. That's the buyer's decision to make, not the seller's.

If you bump my thread when sending me a PM, that's awesome! If you don't, that's ok too.

usually, i like to say, it the person that bumps first that gets priority if i get more than one offer and not the person that pm's first.

also, have any of you considered, most people that sell things here at fs/ft has more than one item listed. hence wingnutz logic falls short. yes, the item you are bidding on doesn't need exposure but what about the other items. we are encouraged not to make a thread for each item that is up fs.

If I'm offering full price, then the deal is over. And again, no reason to bump it.

If my offer falls through, then I (usually) go back and bump the thread.

If the seller has a prerequisite to bump their thread, then I don't bother with it at all. I hardly want to deal with someone who is that uptight about something so trivial.

If my deal falls thru then I bump. If the guy is selling more stuff and my deal was fast/honest; I'll also bump and give that information.

I tend to agree with this statement too. I have no requirements! I'll sell to anyone offering to pay! (a fair price)

I was blowing up because I had made several offers to either sell or buy and I was getting no response. Im in the service industry, computer support, and I know that even a simple reply to someone's message can go a long way.

OFFER
"Hey! I have a modem that might fit your needs. It's a 56k v.90 and I'll ship it to you for 10.00"

REPLY
"Dude! I really like the modem your selling. I'm looking at another one and if the deal falls through, I'll get back to you."

or

REPLY
"Thanks for the offer, I have already found one!"

Have we become so disengaged with communicating over the internet that simple pleasantries don't apply?

I don't care to lowball. If someone needs money bad some will take the lowball. Scored a Audigy 2 ZS brand new in sealed anti static bag with software for $50 shipped. Guy wanted like $65-$70.

Only time I do lowball though is if thats all I got in paypal. If the seller is selling for a decent price and I have that amount in paypal I won't lowball.

Is it really that hard to type YGPM after you send someone a private message? It takes like 5 seconds.

I'm still waiting for a reply back on a widescreen TV someone is trying to sell here locally in Houston. You would think that when trying to sell something that limits your market area, you would be jumping on any PMs wanting to discuss an offer.
