You can keep the files on your hard drive uncompressed, but the average DVD takes up ~5gb, so I hope you have the space... alternatively you can compress them using various programs (I prefer Gordian Knot), but they won't play on most DVD players (newer ones supporting divx will work) and it takes a few hours even on a fast cpu. On the up side, you can fit much more on a dvd or your hard drive this way.
