How to move internationally?

I have spent a few years here in the United States and now I am ready to move back to Germany. The problem is that I have bought a lot of stuff (clothes, tons of books for the university, computer, computer stuff, some electronics I would like to keep, various misc items...) and I am not sure what would be the best way to get the items to Germany. I have to pay this myself so it also needs to be somewhat affordable. Does anybody have experience with this or has some information? Thank you.

I would assume the least expensive thing to do is sell everything... Other than that, ship it via ship...

Ummm....any particular reason you are moving back? What all have you seen of the US? (Just wondering, I've known a few guys come over from Europe, move to some city-ghetto-area and decide they don't like the country and want to move back. US cities are *not* like European cities, that's for sure.)

A friend of mine used M-bags when he moved back to Korea with favorable results.

I was going to sell or just give away a lot of my stuff but some items I really would like to take back with me even if it does not necessarily make economical sense.

I move back because I finished my degree at the end of last year and it is time to go back to find a job in my home country. I feel that it is more difficult for me to find a job here as a foreigner even with the work visa. Maybe I am just doing something wrong but I got the university degree with a 4.0 GPA and still did not get an acceptable job offer. I also miss my home country. What I have seen of the U.S.? The West Coast from Washington to Mexico, the East Coast from Canada to Washington D.C., and more recently some areas in the middle such as Colorado (I have spent the last few years in Colorado Springs). I think that is a good overview. The only thing that was holding me back is my girlfriend here. The breakup is not easy and I wish the circumstances were different as she is just a wonderful person.

Thank you for mentioning the M-Bags. I have never heard of them and I think they will solve at least the problem of shipping my books and my clothes over to Germany.

Ich muss dich auch fragen: bist du sicher, dass dein Bachelors Degree in Deutschland annerkannt wird? Du weisst bestimmit schon wie schlecht den Arbeitsmarkt ist in Deutschland. BA != Diplom.

I'll take all computer stuffs you don't want/can't sell. But on the serious side, I think it would be pretty expensive, ask around, check all your options before deciding on one.

Computer is easy. Just pack the tower and freight it (or if you're feeling rich, FedEx, etc)

DON'T try to take your other components, chances are none of them are 220v compatible. Make sure the computer is (red switch-thing on the back of the PSU), too.

M-Bags for the books, technically you can't send clothes in them, but meh.
