cheaper effective ways. get a Rx of Retin A based cream (tretinoin) from your doc. Switch to cetaphil cleansing bars. Stick with Clearasil 10%. Use retin A before bed and clearasil during the day. get at least three evenly spaced washes through the day. every once in a while, switch an afternoon wash with Clean and Clear Continuos Control Acne Cleanser. don't mix benzoyl peroxide with retin A, it'll deactivate it.

I wash my face twice a day with regular soap. I wash it lightly to take off the dirt but not so much that I over-dry my skin. If I do that, my body compensates by making my skin even oilier than it was before, which is obviously a bad thing if you're trying to clear up your skin.

Bottom line: Over drying your skin is counter-productive to trying to clear it up.

Go to the dermatologist if your acne is real bad. They can give you pills as well as prescription medicine that you can put on your skin that should probably work way better than that over the counter crap.

Funny story, now that I look back on it. I had bad acne at one point. I tried all the over the counter stuff and washed my face like 3 times a day. My regular doctor prescribed me some sort of topical cream. Amazingly, it got worse! I ended up going to see a dermatologist. He told me that I had sensitive skin and that all this stuff had made it worst. He just told me to stop washing my face so often. I now use Neutrogena Face Cleanser once a day in the morning. No more acne.

PS: I guess everyone is different.

Agreed. When I was a youngin' I saw a doc when I was in the military. I forget the prescription that I used, but it worked well. The only downside is that I couldn't consume dairy products and I had to stay out of the sun, or use a good sunscreen. However, I was happy with the results and there is no way over-the-counter scrubs and soaps would have done as well.

The OTC scrubs and soaps work to keep the surface of your skin clean, while the medicine fights the bacteria from under the skin.

you ask too many questions about your acne problem. it is genetic somehow. just eat healthy and get more sleep, you will be fine.

You have to be careful with benzoyl peroxide produts, they will bleach clothing and hair if your not careful.

lol i've used oxy 10, doesn't seem to work for me.

You probably did not use it correctly. It must be used once or twice daily WITHOUT FAIL, and spread liberally over the ENTIRE area you tend to break out on, e.g., the entire face.

If you just put it on pimples, you aren't using it right. It has to be used with absolute regularity over the entire area and use must continue even after you clear up.

It is best to buy white sheets and use it just before bed each night so you don't have problems with bleaching.

Some clothes will bleach, others wont. Same with sheets and towels. It must depend on the type of dye garment makers use.

why white sheets? i have light blue fitted sheets.[/quote]

Because Oxy can cause bleaching on some colored fabrics. If you apply Oxy before bed, you'll want to make sure you either have white sheets, or colored sheets that wont be bleached by the oxy.

I tried it years ago and, like every other acne approach (other than acutane) that I tried, it did jack sh*t. I would absolutely refuse to believe that some of the pics of the severe cashes on this commercial were treated with a cleansing combo like proactiv.

btW you can get a knockoff of proactiv with the exact same ingredients for about half the price from walmart.
