Rice threads are popular, so I'd like to start a beginners guide to ricing up the love machine.

Exhaust:
  • Use cardboard from toilet paper rolls wrapped in aluminum to simulate extra exhaust pipes for additional air flow and extra HP.
  • Add coffee cans to pipes to widen air flow path. Increased looks and HP (of course!).

Windows:
  • Get reflective film from hardware store and put over windows to get tinted window look without the cost!

Lowering your car:
  • Replace your current tires with high-performance radial lawn mower tires. Better handling and cornering because of lowered center of gravity.
  • Cheap way: Let air out of tires. There will be more tire surface in contact with the road to allow for better handling and cornering.

Logos:
  • Get Sharpie from office supply store. Add Chinese/Japanese/Korean writing to exterior. Additional HP for each Asian language. DO NOT use Vietnamese writing because it uses Roman character set.
  • Drawn in logos from: TypeR, V-Tec, DOHC, etc..

Blinkers:
  • Remove blinker cover and replace with clear/colored plastic wrap. Allows for clear blinkers and easily replacement!

Audio:
  • Achieve high whining noise by purchasing wind-up toys from grocery store toy vending machines.

Racing Stripes:
  • No "racing look" would be complete without racing stripes, so grab that electrical tape and put a couple of line from nose to tail. Remember to put it off-center to achieve maximum increase in HP and streamlined aerodynamics.

I agree that riced cars are just a stupid waste of time and money (but the same could be said about computer hardware) but I gotta admit that Japanese compact cars are much better looking and much more reliable than cheap compact American cars. Ford has a good design with the Focus, but Japanese cars like the Acuras, the Lexus', and the Hondas are way ahead of the game. Plus they have such high resale value. Also, I personally wouldn't spend money decking out my car, but they do look neat with big spoilers and cool rims.

I find them annoying beyond belief, especially at 2am. I don't want to hear someone's car idling like a teapot in the middle of the night. For the most part, I think most people don't really care about the look, but more about the attitude of the drivers behind the wheel. In general, driving like crap (aka too aggressively).

focus - $12,415 probably cheaper since ford dealers deal
integra - $19,400 acura dealers don't deal much.
IS 300 - $30,805 i don't know if lexus dealers deal or not. they advertise, which is more than i can say of acura.

really, making that comparison, that the focus seems cheap... well, i guess its true cuz the focus is $7000 less than the cheapest acura and is $18,400 cheaper than the cheapest lexus. the only thing that was even in the price range was honda's compact, the civic, at $12,760. i mean, what are you expecting from a $12,000 car? leather? wood? moon roof? expensive soft touch plastic? anything but the cheapest car ford could come up with? (okay okay... thats the Ka or the aspire but they don't sell those here... actually i think there would be a market for the Ka convertible, it looks nice). i mean, if you had said toyota instead of lexus you might have a leg to stand on, since the corolla is the same price range and the ECHO is even cheaper (who the hell decided that gauges are best put in the middle of the console instead of in front of the driver?!?) but you had to mention not just one but two luxury marques! the cause of that is just inexplicable to me! thats the most asinine comment i've read all day!
