My HP printer won't print because the yellow cartridge is empty !!!
I've had it set to print black only, so i guess each time it turns on & goes through it's little clean it uses a good amount of ink !! Which is b.s.

So my question, surely there is some setting where i can just use this printer as a black text printer !!

I hope !!

Any Help appreciated !!!

Sorry you'll have to pay for the new cartridge or a refilled one. The companies like to keep there printers locked in so they won't print unless all their cartridges has enough ink in them. Some even require use of the color to produce the black.

Thanks mpilchfamily, i was expecting the worst case, as i had done extensive searching trying to find the answer myself !!
The thing that perturbs me is , i have'nt used my photo printer for pics or graphics hardly @ all, but yet the ink still runs out !!
These guys have quite a racket going on here !!!
It should be a simple matter to set it, where you could use the printer even if there was only a black cartridge in it !!

Thanks for your Reply; OlPal

Its also helpful to know that companies either make no money on the printer or they take a loss in profits on printer sales. They make there profits in the ink not the printer itself. So anything they can do to make you buy more ink is money in there pockets.

Whoever is writing the mpf posts needs to learn the diff. between there and their... but s/he is correct regarding inkjet printer ink. If you want black only, get a laser - I haven't seen a black-only inkjet printer in years. With color ink jet printers, either use the color or don't buy. Better to use than to lose it in cleaning cycles which happen to prevent clogs and to make sure that the nozzles are ready to dispense ink right at the top of the 1st page of printing. Who'd want to print a photo or graphics page with the first line always light and/or variable?
