CostCentral is offering the HP LP2475w for less than $550... $529.45 to be exact. No shipping fees (FedEx Ground). Sales tax in California and Pennsylvania. Provantage offers the monitor for $508.18, but you will be hit with about $21 postage (and tax in CA).
24-inch H-IPS panel; 1920x1200 resolution.
6ms response time.
178-degree viewing angle.
DVI (x2); HDMI; DisplayPort; Component; supports HDCP.
HP's LP2475w is probably the only 24-inch IPS monitor you can find for less than $800 (compare Apple $900, NEC $1100), and I very rarely can find it listed for less than $600 net. It is one of the most highly recommended displays on XTKnight's LCD thread, and though it has its issues (colour uniformity is perhaps the most worrying), if you get a good one, you'll have all the visual goodness that IPS is known for. That said, you might have difficulty exchanging a less-than-perfect specimen at some vendors (Newegg is a notorious example).

If I hadn't purchased the Dell 2209WA earlier this month, I'd have ordered this display five minutes ago. Still giving it much thought... The DoubleSight DS-265W offers a 25.5-inch IPS panel, but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of backlight controls. In any case, I prefer the smaller dot pitch on a 24 or 23-inch display.
Updated: Quite a few vendors are now offering the monitor for less than $550. As S44 noted below, even HP is selling the monitor for $570 now. Can't help wondering if new IPS displays are coming.
