It seems I can get PC3200 registered ECC ram for cheaper than PC2100 reg ECC ram (which the server calls for) I know w/ desktops you can generally run the pc3200 in a pc2100 computer, does it work in this instance?
With all things considered you should be able to use PC3200 in that system as long as it is ECC/REG memory. We do not have any track record to tell you for sure that PC3200 will work. I would recommend buying the PC3200 from a place that will return or exchange the module for the PC2100 ones if the PC3200 does not work.

Yep that's good advice....there shouldn't be any reason that the 3200 won't work (obviously runing at 2100 speeds). I agree though just to be on the cautious side make sure you get the memory from somewhere that you are able to swap for 2100 ECC, make sure to look at for the restocking fees as well...usually 15%
The local computer shop that our firm normally deals with wants $1000/1 gig stick of ram for this system! I checked out Crucial's memory search thing and I can get it there for $200/gig. Talk about psycho markup.
anyway, thanks for the info. I'm sure we'll probably just end up going w/ PC2100 from Crucial's website or something.
