HP9100i problem with win2k

Does anyone have hp9100i cdrw installed under win2k correctly? Or does anyone has their new driver for win2k?

I have win98, win2k, linux multiboot in my PC. I can use hp9100i cdrw installed under win98 without any problem, read and write. But under win2k, I tried but always fails to install the CDRW, no problem to read cds as a normal cdrom though. The major error report during installation is " Install Assistant could not find a suitable IDE controller for the HP CD-Writer Plus." Is this the problem of win2k compatibility of the 9100i driver or my win2k settings?

win2k should just see it as a regular cd-rom but it is the software you use that gives it the write ability.

I have HP 9100. No problem with either OS.

From your description, it is not clear what is your problem (Software, or Hardware).

However if you are using the original software that came with the HP 9100 (EZ-CD, it is not compatible with Win2K.

You can obtain an upgrade to EZ-CD 4.02, or use Nero5.

Like Jack said, if you are using the software that came with the HP9100 it will not work in win2k. 2k is finding the drive just fine but you need more up to date software. If you go to the Adaptec site and get 3.5c update and also there is a patch for Win 2k. you have to have your older Adaptec Easy CD 3.5a or b installed, run the patch and install the upgrade and it will find and use your HP9100. Like Jack also stated you can get Easy CD 4.02 and it will do the job with your burner under Win 2k also.

i have that combo and it works fine. Get rid of that hp software and just use ez cd creator.

1) I think it's not hardware problem, as I can read/write with cdrw perfectly when I boot with win98.
2) Yes, I am using the software 9100i came with, easy cd, I checked their website, says it's not win2k compatible, an upgrade will need another $9.x.
3) I am downloading nero 5.0. Should it be working as good as EasyCD?
