I'm wondering what HSF to get for my XP 1900. I'm not gonna OC and I want it to be as quiet as possible. I know about the Alpha pal 8045 but that alternative is a bit expensive. Then I've read that Thermalright SK6 is really good, but I live in sweden and it's not available here. So right now I've been looking at Globalwin CBK58, Volcano 7 and Taisol CGK760092. Are these three any good? Pros, cons?

Also wondering... If I decide to go with an Alpha pal after all. Can I fit one of those 80mm fans from enermax with Adjustable fan speed, or will a Papst fan (8412 NGL) be better?

Any 80mm fan will fit on the Alpha PAL8045, as for those heatsinks I think the Taisol would be the quietest. I don't know if it can run 1900+ though, I think it can but I'm not sure.

EDIT: Can you get the AX-7 where you live? It cools just as good if not better than the 8045, uses 80mm fan, and you don't have to remove your motherboard to install it

Thermaltake Volcano 7+

who ever says its loud is a retard that doesn't understand that there are 3 settings and sure if u put it on high then its gonna sound like a delta BUT at least it has the capability of extreme delta cooling. at med setting its a quiet as a whisper... i mean it.

<< SVC gc68 is by far your best bet. >>

I wouldn't think so for serious O/Cing a 1900xp. Don't get me wrong, it's a good cheap HSF combo (I am using one for my wife's computer, but don't expect near 8045 levels of cooling. Alpha is expensive, but it does a very nice job with almost any 80mm fan.

The original poster specifically stated he wasn't going to overclock. And the GC68 is an ideal choice for what the original poster had in mind, and his preferences. It's a really ideal unit for the non-overclocker that wants something more robust than the retail unit HSF, yet with low noise and price, and without the motherboard compatability issues of some other mentioned hs/fan units.

If you are not going to overclock, why not just get the retail heat sink. It does an adequate job and is extremely quite. My roommate had the XP1600+ OCed to 1900+ with the retail heatsink and was only at 50C under full load.

i still like that old classic the Alpha Pal 6035. i like it cause it uses clip instead of screwing down to mb. that annoys me, it's copper and it cools VERY well in a small package.

that is your best bet, it's a good cooler, has a top notch #1 clip design, it's cheap, it cools well, and it's QUIET. my recommendation.

The AX-7 and SVC gc68 are unfortunately non-existant over here. Anyone know anything about the Globalwin CBK 58? It's listed as running at 25dB and rated up to XP 2000. That looks pretty good on paper but I'm simply wondering if it's true or if it's sugarcoating.
