HSF questions

When ordering a retail boxed AMD Athlon XP, is it really difficult to install the HSF onto it, or is it a breeze?

Oh, and does it come with any thermal compound?

It's not difficult.

I believe it comes with either silicon compound or it has a thermal pad. I don't remember.

not both, use the paste if there's no pad,use the pad if you have it.
BUT never use both.

If it comes with a thermal pad you do NOT need to use any additional grease. If there is not a thermal pad , you MUST use a thermal paste, ie grease.
However, i suggest you go to this url and download this guide. Essential reading if you haven't fitted an AMD cpu before.
