HTC One Camera Problem

I just started having a weird problem with my camera. When I open the camera app I have a single freeze frame on display and the display doesn't change it I point it somewhere else until I press the shutter icon and then the display freezes again. If I select video mode live preview comes on and works as it should but when I go back to still pictures I get the single frozen frame when I select it but no live preview. Again, when I press the shutter button it does take a picture and it also updates the frame that's frozen.

I tried several power off/on and restarts but no help -- any ideas?

Have you tried adjusting the camera settings? I noticed my camera was really laggy and borderline freezing until I changed the exposure timing and then all was well.

Wipe the camera data.

UPDATE:

ATT rolled out some update of about 245MB and after installing my camera works as it should again. I'm guessing the part of the code that handles live preview was clobbered somehow and the update refreshed it.

Thankfully a master reset wasn't needed...

The only thing in that update was a new modem to enable some new LTE bands. This was confirmed over at XDA - but it did come as an OTA vs. modem update, so perhaps this reinstalled your camera client.

245MB's for new modems? I suspect there was a bunch more in there than that. Of course, some of the 245MB's was likely reused older code.

Anywhoo, I'm just glad my camera is working again...

Like I said, it was confirmed over at XDA. Many people wondered why the update was so large but after the devs poked and prodded, all they came out with was a modem update.

I'm having this same exact issue. But I also have no idea what he talking about when you wrote what fixed it. Could you please tell me in lay man's terms when I have to do to fix this problem. And please really spell it out cuz I'm a technology idiot. Thanks so much for ur help in advance and I'm glas u found a solution (for the both of us!)

ATT rolled out an update that fixed my camera problems back in August but why exactly I don't know. ATT has just rolled out another update to 4.3 it appears but I can't download it in my hotel as the wifi is dreadful.
