I moved from that house. I went from Orlando to Tn. He said he lost my number on paper as well as my number. I never said I was smart or perfect in my grammar. People can call me stupid or naive but I was just trying to explain my situation. Whatever.

Being more cautious overall would have prevented most of your problems.

1. No goods until money (cashier's check or cold hard cash) is in hand.

2. Do not give out keys to your place to "friends", ever (I really mean never ever). Only close family (parent) or your SO.

3. Don't let high pressure people strong arm you into something you are uneasy about.

The key was broken off in the lock. He said he left the key on the counter. Who would break into the house not take anything else and the break the key off?

Well you didn't say the key was broken off in the lock originally. You just said the lock was "jammed" which sounded more like forced entry.

All I can say is, "drinking buddies" are not your friends. If the majority of the association you have with somebody is from getting drunk, that should tell you something about their character (and maybe your own as well if you are able to look on yourself as you look on others).

The association was, he was my body shop guy. I was at his place for months following the work on my car. We talked about shit, I helped him on some cars and had some beers. I thought we were friends. He called my cell phone and invited me to a party. The locks were jammed and I didnt know why until my father in law went over there to check out the locks. He drilled out one, checked the other and found the key broke off in the lock.

Lesson #1: There is no fantastic mortgage deal out there. You can save a little interest by shopping around. You can save a little on the closing cost by shopping around. But that is it. Don't ever think you can get such a fantastic deal anywhere. If a broker says that, leave that location and don't come back.
Next I sold some candy machines to somebody who gave me a deposit and would give me the money to follow. I went by before I left florida and the guy said what are you talking about I dont want them. Then why did you put candy in them and give me a deposit? The cops said Im screwed .File small claims.
Lesson #2: I don't see how this is bad. You got the deposit, you got free candy, AND you can still sell it. I'd be very happy if I were you. That is why you get deposits, so that if someone backs out you are even further ahead. Congrats to you for this!
The next guy was my body shop guy that I hung out with, drank beers with and shit. He said he would buy my funiture and gave me some money and mail me the rest. I gave him a key before I left so he could get stuff out of the garage. I get a realtor to go over to the house to try and sell it and the locks are jammed.
Lesson #3: I'm sorry you got robbed. But why on Earth would you give keys to a guy you drink beers with? I've seen a lot of that type of people, and I'd never give anything of mine to them.

I didnt get the candy, nor the machines back. The cops said I had to take it to small claims court. The mortgage guy wasnt giving spectacular rates just saying he could get the deal done in a specified time with no problems. He lead me to believe everything was ok for weeks only to change all terms we had known at the last moment.

If he didn't buy the candy machines, you still own them. I don't see the problem. Did you somehow give him everything before getting money? And you'd easilly win in court.

Mortgage rates change all the time. Nothing is ever set in stone unless you pay a large fee to lock them in. And even then, it is only locked for a very short time. This is NORMAL.

Yeah I would have to take him to court. I was moving out of state and was supposed to get all the money before I left. He said no. The cop said I had to take it to court. It would cost me a palne ticket how many times to go to small claims court? I understand rates change constantly. It was just the fact that we could get the loan done, closed by a certain date. He then changed banks twice without asking if it was ok to pull our creadit again. We with the understanding that we would close with wells fargo on whatever date. The day before we were supposed to close he didnt call and left us hanging along with the sellers.

sounds to me like you put too much faith in other people.

You need to start using your own brains rather than depending on people to do the correct thing.

The point of this thread that everyone is missing is that this country is becoming worse everyday with the kind of crap people do to their own friends and neighbors.

1. The body shop guy sounds like a real ass that needs a tune up.

2. The candy guy also sounds like an ass but I wouldn't have let him have the machines until he paid in full.

3. Mortgage broker = crooks.

Hey man, can I borrow the keys to your car, your insurance papers, the title to the car, and all the spare keys? Oh, also I will need every shred of evidence that the car was ever yours, including payment stubs, receipts, pictures of the car ... I need to go on a quick errand. 100
