It's Gods punishment for the Republicans running a Mormon.
Is that why it's hitting the south? Oh wait... :hmm:

I read that it was supposed to meet with a arctic blast and might just stagnate around the NYC area for 2 or 3 days.
our mortgage already went up dam near 50% this year due to all the recent tornados/hurricanes.
im right there at the southeastern tip of virginia... boo. our mortgage already went up dam near 50% this year due to all the recent tornados/hurricanes.
work from home too so i get the day off if i lose power.
Seeing reports on our local CT news saying landfall is still up in the air with 2 models showing either NJ or NYC/CT as landfall, with the meteoroligist saying it seems to be trending more towards the north. I'm just hoping enough trees fell last year that not enough stuff grew back to fall on the lines again this year. 10 days without power last year sucked.
Huh??? Or, is that including an escrow with insurance in it, and the lender declared that "we decided you're in a flood plain, so you need flood insurance." Otherwise, that makes no sense.
I just became the point person in my IT department in case shit hits the fan. Yay for going to work in bad weather and they close the place down.
No seriously - I really do enjoy it.
I pray for those in the path of this storm. I know a few that are near and dear in its path.
they close the place down; you can sit around and accomplish nothing.
any different than today?
I meant more along the lines of "hey, we finally decided to take a look at this new flood zone map, and guess what..."Lenders do not decide the Flood Zone; They use Flood Zonemaps issued by the government.
More than likely a new map came out putting them into a flood zone.
they did not get flood insurance so the loan people went out and bought expensive private flood insurance knowing that they could pass the cost on.
I had a lender back in 90 that tried that on me in reverse.
My house was removed from the flood plan map so I canceled the flood insurance. they went and purchased a private for $1500 and tried to bill me. the Fed flood that I cancelled was $100/year.
After I showed the loan people that I was exempt from flood (they still wanted the policy prorated); they finally had to back down after I started putting payments into escrow.

Only some parts of the Southern Tier. Last year, when the flooding was going on, we got nothing (120 miles to your west.) But, it looks like the potential for flooding is very high with this one - not that it's definitely going to happen.Hmm I hope STNY doesn't get a ton of rain. They got demolished last year with some pretty bad flooding, and this could easily do the same. :\
Not looking forward to this; discovered a crack in my basement where a little bit of water leaked last time there was a big storm, planning on getting it fixed next year, and now they're predicting 5-6 inches of rain in my area.
Buy 100% silicone calk and the patch the hell out of it.
Then get a couple floor pumps, if you don't already have sump pumps.
