7-25-12 Storm fires up south of Destin today


No reports from Weather Service yet

Edit: It produced some needed rain in the Florida Panhandle area. They had some flooding so went from dry to flooded.

Two storms gathering strength in Atlantic

The season is cranking up.

Looks like about 50nmi so beyond the horizon. Enjoy your beach day.

Looks like if it holds it will rotate around the high in the middle of the gulf and come around towards Galveston to Houston area.

Another storm fired up on the other side of the high but it is well south of Brownsville and will come ashore in Mexico giving some rain.

Tropics are just starting to show signs of activity, it's been quiet since all that early activity in May along the Atlantic coast.

Back on topic, that storm has fizzled into a tropical depression. Nothing to see here - move along. :awe:

Negatory

It is gaining strength in the overnight hours and heading towards Southern Louisiana.

It's small and compact like Andrew.

Still nothing on it. We'll see if in 5am report.

Center of circulation is now due south of Mobile.

Still slowly coming together, still no mention of it at National Hurricane Center.

You were shooting for your prediction on storms as related to the hurricane season.

Otherwise you would be stating every rain storm that runs around the Gulf/Atlantic

Huh, friend of mine from down there just called and said they had a freak storm with some vicious winds roll through. Trees and power lines are down and half the base lost power.

This might be a tropical wave at best. You should not use "Tropical storm" to describe a storm that is tropical in nature that does not exhibit any rotation. Sorry Dave, your thread is misleading. I hope you have an umbrella handy though.
