Well, I replied to a thread about this PSU about a week ago, so I'll give you the same answer I gave the last guy.

I have the blue version of this PSU powering my SLI gaming rig right now, and I can say hands down this is the best PSU I've ever owned. The rails are rock-solid and it's whisper-quiet. I see myself buying a lot more of these for future systems.

I have one installed in my new PC which is only 3 days old, rails are solid and finish qualtiy on the PSU is awesome, comes in a toolbox case with 3 year warranty, there is about 15 reviews on the net including video version from 3Dgameman.

I have only seen 2 bad reviews ,one was from Tom's Hardware but I don'`t really take anything serious from them review wise, infact I have seen bad reviews of Antec,OCZ PSUs etc in my time.

3DGAMEMAN Review.

a couple concerns: the site does not list an efficiency rating for the psu. second, they also omit the temps that thepsu would have
been tested under to determine the efficiency rating.

For more reviews see my post in this thread here .

I have the black version too,btw only downside is some cables are a bit short but you get extenders.I had no problem in my case.

third concern : i overlooked this initially but this is a modular psu which brings up
one of very popular psu myth (i.e. modular units are supposedly better).

modular psus lose power

Due to their look, convenience, and cost savings for manufacturers, modular plugs have become a popular power supply feature. Unfortunately, there has been little or no discussion of the impact of this feature on overall performance and reliability. The fact is, modular plugs limit power by adding to electrical resistance. The voltage drop can be as much as would occur in 2 feet of standard wire. Worse yet, modular plugs utilize delicate pins that can easily loosen, corrode, and burn, creating the potential for a major system failure. That's why pros specify uninterrupted wire!

so you have:

1- no efficiency rating
2- no clue about what temps the psu was tested at
3- power reduction due to modular plugs
4- probably inflated total wattage claim

Don't read too much into that, it is not for specific brands,on the Hiper they use gold plated connections, plus aviation type screw on connectors that won't come off unless you unscrew them on purpose, pins are thick not fragile,as for the Hiper PSU, it is very good from my limit own experience, and 98 percentage of reviews back me up.

Over at OCuk forum in the UK they rate them too, also if you go to DFIStreet.com they are using them for DFI boards, one of the recommended PSUs.

so you have:

1- no efficiency rating
2- no clue about what temps the psu was tested at
3- power reduction due to modular plugs
4- probably inflated total wattage claim

That means nothing just your speculation.

Btw the manual gives these specs for what it is worth.
Output load regulation:

Max power shall be less then 630w.
Total power of +5v and 3.3v shall be less then 240w
Total power of +12v1 and 12v shall be less then 360w
Total power of +5v,+3.3v,+12v shall be less then 560w
Efficiency of 70% MINIMUM when measured under full load condition.
