I chose WUSTL over Dartmouth Northwestern Amherst Tufts Boston College and Carnegie Mellon.

Heh, lots of Jews at that school, from what I heard. As a Jew myself, it's one reason I didn't apply there.

WUSTL is a PR juggernaut. They send almost everybody around 20 letters + including a priority mail'ed batch of brochures.

This is to increase awareness of this school and to have a lower acceptance rating (figure that one out.)

It's a great school, and to go for absolutely zilch is a dream come true for me.

It was tough choosing WUSTL over Dartmouth, Northwestern, Amherst and Tufts but I don't regret it one bit.

I would have chosen Dartmouth over WUSTL...Ivy League + all that BEAUTIFUL country up in NH. But I'm sure you'll do great in STL.

I didn't like Dartmouth's core curriculum + structure of taking courses. WUSTL lets you take almost anything. I wanted to be near St. Louis rather than be stuck up in New Hampshire. *shrugs* different wants I guess.

Rankings don't mean much but USNEWS rates em

top 10 undergraduate

and their graduate medical school is ranked #2 right behind Harvard.

They also had an article how Wash U is a 'hidden gem no more."

It's a great school, on par with many Ivy Leagues besides the big HarvardYalePrinceton.

Thanks. You go to Columbia which is an awesome school too. I was going to apply there but going to Stuyvesant H.S. for four years made me want to get away from New York for a while.

Damn... full ride from WUSTL is nothing to laugh at. Good job! You should be very proud.

EDIT: I applied in high school and was accepted. I couldn't afford to go. They offered me $5k per year, but that was just a drop in the bucket. I wanted to go for chemical engineering. Funny thing is that they hunted me down and tried to get me to apply for grad school. By then I just laughed.
