I don't believe in a God or any related beings. I don't see any reason to. Why should I believe in one particular being over any of the hundreds that have existed (well, said to have existed is the point really). I grew up in a church-going family, and for the most part my family is still really religious. I'm marrying a christian in a few months and her family is religious too. With the odd exception, most everyone is okay with it. I've been to different churches, and had talks with friends of different religions. Good guides to life, sure. Explanation for the universe? Eh, I don't buy it. Is there a God? I really don't know. But neither does anyone else. How did we get here? I don't know. What happens when we die? I don't know that either. Does it bother me? Nope. I'm human, I can't know everything. Why should it bother me?

And this shows the varying degrees of "Christians" as I alluded to earlier. This is a direct contradiction to the Bible. But, as I also said earlier, many Christians take the "do what you want" mentality, and thus in the end become carnal believers. Taking the redemption but being worthless in His service.

If you deny the "do what you want" mentality, how do you justify the link to a semi-hentai site in your signature?

CONTENT WARNING: - those with hyper-sensitive dispositions or little children should be warned that this comic strip may occasionally contain words, ideas, images, and other subject matter (what's left?) that may be considered objectionable to some. There shouldn't be anything here that you won't find on television, (sans cable) but if you are the type who thinks Bugs Bunny really needs to wear pants, consider yourself warned, and don't view any of the comic strips.

Are you one of those people? :Q

As to the other comic. Have you read it? If so, point out the hentai please. (Except is catalogue if thats what your referring to. I'm there simply for the free comics. Its what I do )

You're leading others to the site, which could lead them to viewing the hentai catalog. You could be directly contributing to other's sin. Also a direct contradiction to the Bible.

I'm pointing out the material. They are free to view it. If they go to the catalog (despite the warnings required to get to it) they are doing so of their own accord, not of mine. I help where I can, but I can't help the weakminded.

not all Christians have that viewpoint

I consider myself a Christian except for that I've had to change my terminology to "Follower of Christ's Teachings" because modern Christianity and what I understand from Christ's teachings tend to not jive.

Specifically, as a follower of Christ's teachings, I cannot believe that the only way to get to 'heaven' as though it were some 'place'
is repentance and a true belief in Jesus Christ.
.

I believe Jesus of Nazareth was trying to teach us how to have heaven on earth NOW and that the religion he started has been terribly perverted into a socio-political travesty of what it was meant to be.

I believe that God is too big for any of us to know... like the Blind Men and the Elephant, we all have a piece we can describe and each one may have some validity, but no one knows the Whole Truth of the thing.

Okay, I'm not totally understanding the reason for this thread, but I do think the majority of this forum is taking it a bit easy on you because they know you are a female (is that why you posted your pic?). Anyhow, I belong to a Lutheran church and I teach 1st grade Sunday school and VBS amongst other things. I totally agree with your treatise and can relate personally to it.

The thing that puzzles me is why you are posting this in a forum that loves to flog any Christian that posts his/her colors here. What is the goal of this thread? Yes, I read the first line!

Thanks, but none of that stuff is original shilala material.
Someone else was good enough to take the time to show me those things, I was just repeating what I was told.

I'm a Christian, btw. And despite that fact I'm still on the fence about the whole walking on water thing. And no way could Noah have gotten two of everything on that boat.
And I'm okay with that.

That's true, there is an overall niceness to this thread. And no, before someone tries to spout it out, posts like this HAVE been made before with the same go-down-in-flames results. I suppose some people will only act properly in the presence of a respectable woman.

I didn't read your post.

But my family is very Christian, and I respect some of them while loathing others. Christianity seems to be the home of self righteous twits who just won't leave other non-Christians alone. I'm an atheist - hindus, muslisms, jews seem to accept that. But I've gotten into so many arguments with Christians who seem like it's they're duty to make me embrace Jesus... Oye!

P.S. I think Jesus is awesome - I think he was a hippy who would probably think that pot should be legalized, gay people should be allowed to get married, and that we should just stop judging each other and try to get along. I aint see anything wrong with that.

So from now on, if you want to start a controversial topic AND have a civil discussion, PM a female to do it for you.

I think it has more to do with the fact that she's a respected forum member than the fact that she's female.

If you're American, you might want to take into account the context that the vast majority of your country's citizens are Christian and NOT of the alternate religions you listed. There are "self righteous twists" in all manner of belief systems.

I live in NYC and am surrounded by JEWS.. So many jews! oH my! I kid, I kid.. But no one ever tries to convert me while the christians.. god.. they try to save my soul so often. Some jews I've spent time with are awesome - i was invited to a cross-cultural passover and the Rabbi talked about Easter and Christmas, about how the words of Jesus should be heard even if you don't accept him as the Messiah. I respect that, alot actually.

I know I disobey alot too, but as I said im not perfect. However I do believe that actively doing something against the Bible is a blatant slap in God's face.

If the Bible told you to banish your wife from your house during her period would you do it?

Come on guys, let the venom flow. Religion is too hot of an issue right now for this thread to be so tame. This feels like something that should be on LifeTime TVs, message board - are we all menstruating?

Passionate debate - whether for or against christianity, is what's needed. Yet we're all proving to be panseys..

This is similar to the "Onan spilling his seed" argument. I'm certainly not going over this again in a thread where we were told to explicitly told to avoid bickering. Read some websites etc. It's explained rather well if you go to a site trying to understand rather than a site just wanting to bash.

Unfortunately, previous threads have proven that far too many of us have more passion than debate. Be careful what you wish for.
