Pretend I know nothing about this overclocking thing (which is true!) let me ask a couple of questions.
Hardware - p4p800 + p42.8c + 2x256 Mushkin "PROMO" @ 400 mhz. CPU is locked.
1. The only way to overclock this is to increase the system bus (currently at 200 mhz). (????)
2. Increasing the system bus will increase the cpu speed (14 time XX will give me the speed) - but it will also increase the Front side bus speed (4 times XX will give me the speed), and finally it will increase the speed of the memory at (2 times XX will give me the speed). (????)
3. Changing the voltage to both the DDR reference and the CPU will help with stability (?). Is there any other voltage to increase that would be helpful (PCI is not that important right?)
4. BIG QUESTION - if it constantly crashes thats bad right? (my humor is a little off) - seriously if it crashes it would most likely be due to the memory being "cheap" and running at 400 mhz AND 2-2-2-5 which is pushing it already - it cannot handle any more (??)
Thanks!
