I really have no sympathy for people who drink and drive, either I hope you learned your lesson, or you kill yourself without hurting someone else next time.

I have never met my grandfather thanks to people like you.

You know what's worse than killing yourself after DUI? Surviving but killing everyone (family members or friends) in your car + the car that you hit. I hope you never drive after drinking again.

He didn't really get into an accident, he was stupid and put himself in a dangerous situation, and was lucky no one died.
That said, it's good that you are (hopefully) off the drink, and definately (I would assume) off the drinking and driving.
We can rag on for doing the stupid thing n the first place though, unless you think drinking and driving are OK? But gotta remember to be glad he's giving it up.

the stupid thing is I was going to help him out. He was at my mom's house and his insulin pump broke. I don't remember a thing about the night, but I guess I hit a telephone poll on the way.

Its not a good reason to have done what I did, but I did it.

rudeguy isnt new here, he knew what hed get by posting this. he deserves to be ragged on, and have various parts of himself busted, he went drinking and driving, i dont believe anyone here is responsible to cheer him up. it was stupid fvcking thing to do; at least he knows it now and (hopefully) wont ever do it again.

its just a shame that it took a number of stitches for him to get the point. i got the point watching videos in drivers ed, he didnt, and should consider himself lucky to be alive and well enough to even take and post pics in the first place.

I'm sure you realize this now, but you really should've sent someone else to go help him out if you were that plastered.

What are you going to do about a car now man?

The choices we make..............

I never got to watch those videos...I feel left out.

I know what I did was wrong. Hopefully someone reading this thread will think about it before they go out for even a short drive after drinking. Valid reason or not, its not worth it. I could have killed someone, or a whole freaking family for that matter. Luckily it was just a pole.

I was being an idiot, worthwhile reason for driving or not. Please don't anyone ever do what I did.

If Im not mistaken you are a single parent, yes? If so, then why the fvck are you out getting drunk when you don't have anyone capable of taking care of your young boy. You seem to be an EXTREMELY irresponsible parent, and I feel bad for your child. The fact that you are admitting doing wrong does not absolve you from the stupid act that you did. (Again!)

what about drinking and not driving?
Bring a sleeping bag next time and if no other place, then sleep in the back of your car.

You shouldn't be drinking in excess period if you are a single parent. You never know when an emergency could come up and that little one could need you.

Not much good you'd be to them when you're hammered, not to mention the example you'd be setting and the loneliness the child would feel when his only parent wasn't there for him.

Sorry, no more respect for you. No pity either. Fact is, if you drank and drive, especially with all the pushing by organizations like M.A.D.D and S.A.D.D. to not do just that, then you deserve to get fvcked up like you did as a lesson so you don't do it again. I have NO tolerance for drunk drivers. Fact is, if you can afford the insane prices of alcohol at bars, you can afford a cab ride home. So don't post here expecting pity, I highly doubt you'll get any. I'm betting at least 80% of people here know somebody who's been hurt or killed by a drunk driver.

EDIT: and for the record, I enjoy a good drinking binge here and there, being a college student, but I ALWAYS coordinate with my friends to have a DD, and when none of us wants to be one, our college has a service called "tispy taxi" which is run by its bus system and will shuttle you home for $1.50 a person.

That was rather a tame post.

My mother got killed when she was 25 and I was 6. I heard she was a great person but I never got to know her and the only thing I remember about her is waving good bye to her about ten minutes before she was killed by a drunk driver.

I had a chance to meet the person who killed her. (He was drunk and racing down the road in the wrong lane.) But I turned it down.
