I agree with the OP. The point of a senior prank is to be funny and likely take a long time to clean up, but be relatively harmless once it's done. Anything like this that is sort of disgusting crosses the line a bit. A good one I've always heard about is covering the floor with dixie cups filled with water, and stapled together.

If their stapled they leak. Adn this is more of a dorm one. You sneak in durring the weak off and do this to someone in your dorm (the hall monitor dude is the likely target). Or if your roomate passes out you surround him with the cups.

Did you graduate from anything?

Staple them at the top, fill them halfway. They dont' leak.

See I always Filled them to the brim or very close so stapling wasn't an option, I guess its either make it impossible or make it really really really hard. I choose the Hard route.

If I was in your wife's position...I'd take advantage of the situation to a file a damage report with the school administration and require them to reimburse me for the losses. The will most likely pay up "as part of the overall cost of the prank".

If they don't pay up...I'd file a complaint in small claims.

As others said, that is not a clever prank at all. The intentional destruction of personal and company property is hardly funny.

If I were you, I would have the wife demand action from the administration. If they did not take any action she should contact the local newspaper and/or television network(s). Being a private school, I am sure they really wouldn't want to have bad press.
If that doesn't pan out, I would most definitely contact the police even if that means she would have to seek employment elsewhere. If I was in that situation, I sure as heck wouldn't want to work at a place where the administrators leave the teacher high and dry.

My wife is a teacher at a fairly elite private prep school. She called me up this morning and told me that she was the recipient of the senior prank this year. What did these immature brats do?

They broke into her classroom (most likely through one of the windows) and filled the room with shrimp, scallops and cheese. They did not simply put these items on the floor and tables; they put them in every drawer in her desk, in her filing cabinets and in her storage cabinets. Lots of papers and work that she reuses from year to year have been ruined because of this in addition to the obvious smell and mess.

What is the school going to do about this? Nothing. I guess they feel that these kids "deserve" to get a free chance at breaking and entering and vandalism simply because they are seniors. Give me a freaking break. I was considering calling the police, but don't want to risk my wife losing her job because of these kids. What they did is a felony, not just some harmless prank. Imagine if you got to work this morning and discovered that someone had broken in through your office window and the office along with all of your paperwork were completely covered in seafood? How would you react? How would your boss react? I am certain that the police would be involved. Nothing is going to happen to these kids and they are going to learn that they can get away with anything.

weak rant -2000000000000/10

senior pranks are as old as the hills.. for your wife to be the target she musta been a hardass to this years seniors... or a group of them.. usually the entire senior class is in on the prank.. so for it to be so targeted she musta really pissed them off..
what did she do flunk the star quarterback or something?

rofl

Any personal items damaged? If so the school should not retaliate against her for calling the police, she is enforcing her rights to protect her property or receive compensation for damaged property. If the do, they will be on the hook for a rights violation themselves.

school pranks that target individual teachers? i'm not sure that's really a class prank.

our class prank we flooded the quad and turned it into a beach. Sure it required a little bit of cleanup but we made it easy to remove the cover we put over the drain, and used minimal sand.

Pranks shouldn't destroy individual teachers teaching... things.. that just sucks.

the posts about "Get over it" and "you have a stick u pyour butt are RIDICULOUS. Plain and simple. These kids (from what I can derive) destroyed school property and more seriously PERSONAL property of the teacher. Lesson plans and other items SHE uses and SHE created were destroyed.

Anyone posting "meh that prank is weak... this what we did for our prank..." I'm guessing just graduated HS within the past 4yrs and are still reliving their 4 touchdowns during the Polk High Football game.

These kids NEED to be held responsible and apparently the school doesn't have enough balls to stand up to the kids in question. So the OP and/or his wife should take matters into their own hands if her employer won't stand up for her.

If I found out my kids did something like this they would be in a world of hurt.

My Junior year the Seniors put an inch of topsoil in the Faculty room. Everywhere. Floor, desks, chairs... The school adminstration found out who it was and really dropped the hammer on them.

wow I can't believe how many people think it's okay what these kids did. it's not okay at all. it's not funny or amusing as a prank should be when it clearly crosses the line, as this definitely did.

and LOL @ the guy who's class sold the school on Ebay for $1 haha. now THAT's a prank.

Was your wife hated or like by her students? Generally teachers who are liked do not have this problem.

well, i think if you like a teacher you know them...and if you know someone you have a pretty good idea what they will tolerate.
it seems more like they would have gotten it if it werent for the fact that it was, you know, dead seafood.
for some reason, people dont react well to that.
they really should have come up with something more interesting.

Shoot, if you threw your hat at graduation or did anything out of line at the ceremony, you didn't get your diploma. You had to come in a few weeks later with your parents for a talk, do some community service etc.

Pranks can be great, but as others have said, they are meant to be clever not destructive. If I had to redo templates and work extra hours because some little $h*ts thought they were being funny, they would pay, or I would walk and toss it to a newspaper as soon as I found employment elsewhere.

She probably spent years and $100s on all of those teaching materials. That kind of loss should be covered by some type of insurance or contingency fund. She should be calculating the damages and calling the police, and NOT cleaning a thing. It means jack until you have a dollar amount attached to it. If the school doesn't reimburse her, she should call the cops and some local TV news ppl to do a story about the prank and how the rich brats are getting away with it.

yeah....

No pics of the room, but here is one of the wife. She is in the middle.

For those of you high schoolers in the room, you have my wife pegged completely wrong.

Dude, where did you find THAT pic? It's ok for you to admit that you're actually married to HER...
