It's alarming that people can't tell the difference between a prank and vandalism.

I was just going to post about how MY elite prep school was so rich that we used Reg Herring, and only the finest cuts of swordfish, which we caught ourselves, while fishing off of the decks of our parent's yachts.

Doesn't your wife keep backups on disks?

and did she save the seafood? I'd pile that stuff up into freezer bags and toss it in the deep freeze....then serve it at the senior luncheon/dinner, (if you guys have one)

The seniors before our class dragged cinderblocks through the gymnasium (GG RETARDS). They ruined senior prank week for us because that was the last year it could occur.

Police FTW. what the did is a crime and they deserve to get jail time, community service and definently a police file. First of all, they broke in to her classroom, and then they make a mess and ruin all her paperwork? call the police. These kids deserve to go to jail.

Fail them all. See if another year of high school helps straighten the little miscreants out.

The did something similar at out High School. While Senior Pranks are pretty norm, the year before I graduated a group came in and broke some pipes, flooding the Auditorium, causing thousands of dollars in damages, and delaying graduation for 2 weeks.

Dumbasses.

QFT. I also think y2kc has the right idea. If the Administration has to pony up $$$ to clear out and properly clean / disinfect the stuff (or better yet replace it) they'll change their tune.

This is an excellent thing to bring up with the parent's clubs and any group that does fundraising\helps the school. The administration may not care, but I know at the school I work at if the seniors did something like that and the administration thought it was funny, it would be brought to the attention of the parent's club and someone would get fired. And it wouldn't be the teacher. Most likely a principal.

They broke into her classroom (most likely through one of the windows) and filled the room with shrimp, scallops and cheese. They did not simply put these items on the floor and tables; they put them in every drawer in her desk, in her filing cabinets and in her storage cabinets. Lots of papers and work that she reuses from year to year have been ruined because of this in addition to the obvious smell and mess.

What is the school going to do about this? Nothing. I guess they feel that these kids "deserve" to get a free chance at breaking and entering and vandalism simply because they are seniors. Give me a freaking break. I was considering calling the police, but don't want to risk my wife losing her job because of these kids. What they did is a felony, not just some harmless prank. Imagine if you got to work this morning and discovered that someone had broken in through your office window and the office along with all of your paperwork were completely covered in seafood? How would you react? How would your boss react? I am certain that the police would be involved. Nothing is going to happen to these kids and they are going to learn that they can get away with anything.
you know, i agree, that is not funny. most public schools would investigate, find the perpetrators and they'd not be able to go on their class trip or something.

i am surprised the school takes such a pussy attitude about this.

There's two possibilities here. Senior pranks usually target a teacher that is highly liked/loved, because those teachers usually have a sense of humor. Or the pranks center around a cranky teacher. In this case, I'm going to say your wife is a crank. Because the risk of property damage was obviously assessed...and who deliberately harms someone they respect and like?

Oh well, you seem like a serious stiff yourself. Perhaps this will have some insight for you.

Police and have them bring in a fingerprint crew. If nothing else, they can swab the windows and help narrow down your search.

I love these posts about the OP being a tight-ass and having a stick up his butt. What don't you HS kids that are posting those remarks understand? These kids DESTROYED PERSONAL PROPERTY of the teacher plan and simple. If I broke into your house and put seafood all over your family pictures and carpeting, I hav a feeling that you would be signing a MUCH different tune.

These kids should certainly be punished by the school. Plain and simple. Personally, I wouldn't let this crap rest or you wife, or another teacher will get the same crap next year, only worse in an attempt to 1-up the prior senoir class.

If I may add, that is a LAME prank to pull.

weak rant -2000000000000/10

senior pranks are as old as the hills.. for your wife to be the target she musta been a hardass to this years seniors... or a group of them.. usually the entire senior class is in on the prank.. so for it to be so targeted she musta really pissed them off..
what did she do flunk the star quarterback or something?
yeah, cause it's her fault so the students just had to vandalize her room......gotcha

Maybe this is a good thing she will actually have to draw up tests again.

On my first day of kindergarten, I found my nametag at the right desk, sat down, folded my hands on the desk, and quietly waited for the teacher to start class.
Maturity is in fact possible.

Make the students clean up their mess. It'll teach them this mythical thing called "responsibility." And since the administration thinks it's ok, make them help clean it up too.

For those of you that said kids will be kids, they were just having fun...how do you feel if someone put seafood in your bedroom and closets over the weekend? It would ruin your clothes and property for sure and you would not be a happy camper.

Prank is supposed to be fun. I can live with rolling the house with toilet paper and such but rotten seafood is too much.
Agreed. Decaying animals everywhere is just disgusting.

and did she save the seafood? I'd pile that stuff up into freezer bags and toss it in the deep freeze....then serve it at the senior luncheon/dinner, (if you guys have one)

Too many people are too stupid to recognize that some teachers are tough because they want to prepare kids for the real world. Even in college, there are some teachers that have strict grading requirements, and I'm fine with that. Why? If you're on a job, like as a civil or mechanical engineer, and you had lax teachers, you could wind up designing something unsafe, and when that happens, people can die. Unfortunately, too many vocal morons and their moron parents want "nice" teachers who let anything slide. Those teachers who have a sense of discipline and responsibility are chastized for having these virtues.

Here's hoping that the cleanup turns expensive, and the sh!thead administration decides to take action. Other option I'd love to see - a "senior prank" involving lots of decaying seafood in the offices of the admins. Or maybe roadkill. I'm sure they'll just walk in, laugh, and brush the dead, festering racoons and groundhogs off of their papers and get to work.

If I broke into your house and put seafood all over your family pictures and carpeting, I have a feeling that you would be signing a MUCH different tune.
Don't forget to hide some in odd places. You know, that way, no matter how much the house is cleaned, it'll still reek of rotting fish, until someone happens to move a sofa cushion and find several maggotty fish. Maybe some in the bedsheets too - and the ones in the closet too, folded and mooshed in real good. Yeah. Hilarious.

fail them all...F!!

The problem is that she teaches mostly tenth graders. She had these seniors two years ago.

fail the seniors then, fail them all...in the end, the ones that are responsible will man up come forth or word will go around about who did it...especially among those that are innocent and want to graduate...

we let a peacock lose in our school .. that was hilarious... just because 75% of the people posting in here are either stuck up too mature for a gag assholes who would be completely for this if it was orchestrated from the internet and involved a bunch of people dressed the same or they were the nerds in highschool who were never allowed to participate in the pranks...

the prank was good... could have been better...

that being said... was there any thing that could have prompted this... she wasn't like a marine biology teacher was she?
