I agree with the OP. The point of a senior prank is to be funny and likely take a long time to clean up, but be relatively harmless once it's done. Anything like this that is sort of disgusting crosses the line a bit. A good one I've always heard about is covering the floor with dixie cups filled with water, and stapled together.

But seriously, our senior pranks were ok like flooding the rally court and putting pool toys in it, superglueing all the classroom doors (which is relatively easy to get rid of, but I don't understand why they had to change all the locks).

Once you start destroying property, it crosses the line. I heard about people smashing school bus windows in. Ok, that's just retarded.

Stupid high school kids, grow up. It's not funny anymore. Keep the jokes simple so we can all laugh, not so you get in trouble.

I wouldn't Call the Police, but thats up to your wife to decide. Personally, If I was the teacher I would have int this order Laughed, Threw up, Went to the teachers lounge, called the janitor, taken the rest of the day off. Your wife may or may not think along these lines, and I feel sorry her. At 24 I am still a kid at heart and really haven't grown up a day past 8th grade in what 10yrs, so whether or not some of you were or are prudes now, there will always be imature people in hisghschool, just because you didn't have the same kind of fun they had doesn't mean you can or should look down on them, vandalism aside they guys probably had more fun in 1 day then alot of us myself included have had in years, just because they can let themslves go completely. Me, I would love to be a kid again.

I personally wouldn't push the issue, and depending on why I was picked I would give them what they want. If they Liked me for my sense of humor, then talk about it for day, make cracks about the smell any chance you get let them know you enjoyed it. If they hated me then I would cry non stop, any time I saw a senior I would give them an evil eye. That way what ever happened it was such a huge success that in the future for years it will be passed on, and hopefully school system won't be so bad that these kids would be copy cat'ing, more then likely it will never happen again for the sole reason everyone knew what happened and each year they will feel the need to do something different. But You need to react exactly as desired and more then they desired so that this time it becomes a Legendary. If they wanted her to Cry, then perhaps she should take a week off, maybe spread some rumors that she started to see a shrink.

but that prank is weak. my class did set up senior prank really well. we listed our high school on ebay for $1, i mean everything included classrooms, gym, cafeteria, library, lab rooms and so on for just $1! and guess what, my principal actually got the phone call from ebay buyers. we posted flyers everywhere. at end of the day, principal made an announcement saying, "nice prank, seniors. have a nice day." our principal is really awesome but we did a CLEAN prank instead ruining the memories.

two classes before i did a terrible prank. pulling down the ceilings and cut the vents. the hallways were filled with dust up to average student's hips. it was horrible and janitors had to get them vacuumed for days and days.

First off... to set it straight before I am accused, I am not a high schooler... and second because I saw it further down, its not summer time yet... no high schoolers will be here... most high schools go until the last week of may if not the first week of june.

That being said... how is flooding any less damaging then the prank the OP is complaining of?

Staple them at the top, fill them halfway. They dont' leak.

Seniors in my school got arrested on Senior ditch day.

How did this happen?

Some moron made copies of the "secret flyer" that had the party info on it since they were a teacher aide and had use of the copiers. They left the original in the copier, the campus police officer found it.

They were not arrested for ditching school, and if that's all they did then nobody would have cared...but they decided to have a big party with a bunch of beer. Underage drinking....oops.

it seems she sees herself one way but the kids see her differently...its all a matter of perspective though..

also be supportive but she has to fight her own battles as it her job not yours, and if the school does not handle it satisfactorly or the way she deems is appropriate then she should look for work elswhere....after all that is what we would do at our jobs

this is not a funny prank. a funny prank involves minimal destruction of property, like getting the bells to ring with a different song instead of the standard bell toll, or releasing goats numbered 1-5 through the school, but deliberating skipping number 4.

this was:

1. disgusting. rotting seafood? let's think about the stench.
2. difficult to clean up.
3. not destroying school property, but destruction of private property. what if she had her own things in the desk?
4. what if she was allergic to seafood and the smell set off a huge allergic reaction, stopped her breathing, and died? it's not that funny after that.

just because they're rich private prep kids, and can afford to waste money on shrimp, scallops, etc, doesn't mean throwing rotting food everywhere is fine. they should pay for the cleanup and apologize at the very least. and also pay to replace the desk. their parents are of course not going to believe their precious angels did this, but being a senior does not excuse you from stupidity.

Why do the seniors get to prank at all? Teachers are underpaid and are doing them a favor (i.e. teaching them.) I think the whole idea is stupid.

On that note, if a prank is in order, I completely side with the OP. The prank was disgusting and immature. These people need to realize that pranks can be plain mean. I remember hearing a story when I was a boy about a kid who played a prank on his dad. He sprayed some sort of degreasing chemical in his coffee. Thought it would be funny until his dead was poisoned and died. I think a final lesson to these asshats is to give them a few hundred hours of community service before they start college.

OP and wife are not stuck up, nor does it sound like she is upset about being pranked. She is rightfully upset that the prank was terribly cruel, destroyed property, and admin doesn't care.
