That sux, pretty rough for your wife. I wouldn't say fail them all but I'd def expect the school to do something.

One of the senior pranks at my school was pretty damn funny. A kid who's dad owned a tow truck company called and had the physics teacher's car towed during class. And while the teacher ran down from the 3rd floor to stop the tow truck, unsuccesfully, they had pizza delivered. That was pretty amusing

All this senior prank crap has no place in the school system.

Also, it's your wife's responsibility to effectively deal with this situation.
Like others have said, if the school won't help, get the police involved.
The vandals need to be caught and they need to learn that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.

Another profession? How about lawyers. They get to re-use the exact same forms over and over again. In fact, their secretaries do 99% of the work on the forms. The lawyer is often just present to sign his John Hancock at the end - when the client pays a couple thousand dollars.

It takes an incredible amount of time for a teacher to prepare the stuff that they have, especially if they teach more than one type of class (i.e. if they teach 9th through 12th grades, as is typical in a private school.) Just developing one quality test and answer key can easily take an hour or more.

You apparently have no clue how much a (good) teacher does to prepare for classes.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I'm a teacher. I'm actually thrilled when students go to a lot of work to come up with a creative practical joke. But, as I warn every senior class, I'll even stand up to help defend kids after a practical joke as long as they don't break my 4 rules of quality practical jokes:
1. Must be original and take some amount of effort.
2. No laws must be broken, particularly trespassing laws.
3. No one should be unfairly inconvenienced - the practical joke shouldn't be of a nature that the cleaning/janitorial/maintenance staff have to spend an excessive amount of time cleaning up (if at all)
4. It should not be a personal attack on someone or something that will cause someone excessive embarassment/loss of dignity/status, etc.

I found it hilarious when I went to my calculus class after lunch one day, and while I was at lunch, my entire calculus class was in my classroom wiring my doorknob up with 100,000 volts. (Their attempt failed )

I had the unfortunate experience of jokingly telling some preppy dipshits that it would be a good prank to have a two groups of people with super soakers attack staff. One group's filled with bleach, the other with ammonia.

They did it and went to jail. But my name was mentioned, my locker was searched, and my stash of pot stolen by the school cop. Bastards.

Forget it and move on. With what this school likely charges for tuition, they'll let the students get away with a lot more than that. Rich punks usually can.
