Calm down people. I have reasons why I have to order from Newegg and why I need an NVIDIA card. I'm asking for advice within those boundaries.

I ended up ordering:

Core 2 Duo E4300 (1.8 Allendale, will OC) - $117
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 (rev 1.3, future proofed) - $100

Will be ordering an eVGA 7900GS in a few days for $150. Thanks for the advice everyone.

please enlighten us

Respect his decision! he wants an nvidia card and not an ATI card.

To the OP, i would do what others have said and either stretch the budget to an 8800GTS 320 or just go for a 7950GT. Although i think you would be satisfied with a 7600GT the 7950 is good enough to warrent the extra dough spent.

Heh!

Wanna hear something funny (odd)?

I love ATI, and am scared to death of Nvidia cards, yet...

I just bought a XFX 7600 GT from Amazon.com - it's in 'the mail'.

I guess we all got our dragons to slay!

7950GT 256mb for $160 is a good Nvidia card

X1950XT 256mb for $160 is the best performer out of the 3.

Spending above this doesn't make sense because instead you would just get GeForce 8800 GTS 320mb.

Cheers.</end quote></div>

QFT!

EDIT: If you must have an nVidia card, IMHO go with the 7950GT, it's a very good card.

I think I know what he's doing. He can't order something else because it might be an order from someone else.

But, those are good choices simply because you WON'T have to replace motherboard and RAM later on. You'll be able to convince that person next year to get a quad core and an acceptable DX10 video card at the same time.

If you bought those high-end parts now, you'd pay too much.
