Although, don?t get me wrong, England/Britain has some of the most fucked up accents you?ll ever come across ? thank god I?ll never have to discuss my business over the phone with any of them (northern accents)!

I've heard that the current Indian accent is the result of influence from the accents of British Empire invaders 150 or so years ago. The inflections and lilting voices of e.g. Irish and Scotsmen made the accent what it is today. I wonder if the unaltered accent exists to be heard anywhere.

Is it just me or do a lot of Indians smell really really strongly of something. When I ride the bus home from school or work theres usually a lot of Indian guys riding the bus as well, all well dressed in business, biz casual stuff, and they alllll smell bad. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly but its gotta be something they're eating. Can someone explain that to me and does their entire house smell like that?

That's cute. I didn't say it wasn't profitable. Did you read that anywhere? Come on....you can find it, you can't admit you're wrong, so it HAS to be there somewhere!Originally posted by: Vonkhan

Interesting. So when an American company hires a customer support team for it's American customers......that company shouldn't hire people that speak a form of English American's can understand? Your logic is infallible.
I'm not saying any Indians need to learn to speak unaccented English. I'm not saying I'm forced to do business with a company that hires them. I'm saying, and you simply cannot deny this without being a moron, is that it is an extremely poor display of customer service by said company to do so. And yes, I have stopped doing business with companies that I know I will have to deal with over the phone, if I know I can't understand the people on the other end.
It's a nice horse you're on though, how did you ever get it so high?
Do you even a clue on how the process works? Do your research on how American companies choose the Indian companies whom they outsource to. Are trying to tell me that XYZ American company isn't AWARE that their outsourced CSRs have an accent that most Americans can't understand. To put it simply, there are in-depth models that compare the amount if revenue lost vs. savings based upon past figures for customer satisfaction, closures, complaints, etc. All these are made available to the American company. For most companies, it's worth it to have a few irate customers while savings $s ... they don't care that Mr. SaltBoy or Ms. Deeko is crying on ATOT.
If you don't have enough $s to move the needle on the company's charts - guess what, capitalism ftw
And yes, I like my horse. It has an Indian accent.
Face it sport, what I said is accurate, you can't refute it. It's neat the way you changed the subject though. You almost got me. Thiiiiiiis close. The only one crying here is you. I already said I don't have a problem with Indians or their accents.
Your horse is dead, but you might as well keep beating it. Probably makes you feel better after I shot you down again.

I do believe I hurt your e-feelings ... so whats the point of doing business if you aren't concerned with profit? What are ya, red? Your "contract" is with the American company, the American company's "contract" is with the Indian company - but I guessing you're still learning to connect the dots in your coloring book

Why should Indians change their accents? You can take your business elsewhere if you don't like it ...

I don't mind an accent, on anyone-- at least they have made an effort to speak our language.
Now what does piss me off is seeing just about every sign at Lowes and Home Depot with Spanish all over it-- in some cases displayed much more prominently than the English.
Oh, and the Boston accent as well too... very annoying.
