Exactly....when one say's "I could care less", it's one of those phrases that it's assumed that everyone knows the rest of the sentence without hearing it.Originally posted by: Shawn
Actually, I think sarcasm is implied when someone uses "I could care less".

Actually, I think sarcasm is implied when someone uses "I could care less".
What is means is, "I COULD care less, but I don't see how", or "but not much because I hardly care about it now".
The second part is just assumed
"What is understood, doesn't need to be discussed".
So it's not incorrect. Now, do people use it in error, when they really mean "I couldn't care less"? I'm sure.

For about a year i've seen people write "I could care less", in the context :
"I could care less what you think" as in, "f... you and your opinion"
Surely you should be saying "I couldn't care less" ?
Saying you could care less means you DO care.
Am I missing some internet joke, or have people lost the ability to write what they mean?
"I could care less" is just dumb. Please stop using this phrase.

So you start your post by stating you've seen people "write 'I could care less'" for years blahblahblah.
Then you introduce us to your perfect logic by stating "Surely you should be saying 'I couldn't care less?'" and "Saying you could care less means you DO care"
Finally, you leave us with "have people lost the ability to write what they mean?"
So I'll ask you this question; have people lost the ability to write what they mean? Obviously in your post, this is the case.
Typing "saying" when you mean "writing" is just dumb. Please stop doing this.

LOL, you come into this thread and see that everyone pretty much is bashing the OP. You then decide to jump on the band wagon by making your own "clever" bash post by pointing out a small, trivial inconsistency in his sentence structure. Your post is weak at best. You fail as badly as those who write/say/type "could care less."
