I don't like saying yeah

I use it to fill in the gaps when talking to others. Not only does it not get the point across when I say it, it sounds like underling lingo. From now on I will make a conscious effort to say yes in place of yeah. What other positive affirmatives should I start using in its place?

Okay maybe not simply to fill in the blanks either. Ideally I'd not say um or yeah as an idiosyncrasy and use yes as an affirmative.

I go with "yeah", then "uh-huh", then throw in a "right". I like to go to "alright" from here, then close it up with a thoughtful "mm-hmm".
