My best friend made the kosher switch a fews ago. It was different for me when I visited. Anything I had that wasn't kosher wasn't allowed in the kitchen. My pepperoni pizza stayed on the floor outside the kitchen. He had two sets of plates and dishes, one for meat and other for dairy. I had to wash my hands every time I ate something non-kosher and then went back to the kitchen. Strange thing is he's from America and has lived here all his life. His fiancee is 5th generation Isrealli (land-wise) from near Haifa. She didn't really follow the kosher rules other than no pork until he got the religious kick.

Yeah, you have to wait like four hours between milk and meat products. Plus among the ultra orthodox, you need to use different utensils for each of them.
Whole other set of pots, pans, dishes too, in many cases.
Some even have separate refrigerators.

Wtf? Who the hell came up with these rules

The items that touch meat are not allowed to touch the other food, it's just Kosher law. Hell, if you do follow Kosher laws stricktly, you supposed to have two separate refridgerators and freezers for the meat and dairy products.
That's not exactly true. I am an Orthodox Jew, and I observe the laws of Kashrut to the "T" . You don't need seperate refrigerators and freezers. The biblical prohibition is against cooking milk and meat together. The Rabbinical courts (around 2200 years ago) expanded that prohibition to mixing the two, to waiting anywhere from 3-6 hours between eating meat to eating dairy, but not vice versa. Many observant Jews have seperate ovens, but I don't know anyone with seperate freezers. Every Orthodox Jew has two sets of pots and pans, and two sets of dishes.
EDIT: Trust me, we eat just fine . I have never eaten pork, a cheesburger or anyhting like that. But so what? What do I need it for? I eat plenty of other things that are quite delicious.

Yeah, it's a shame you only know religious phonies and not people who actually practice their faith.

You took the words out of my mouth. Although there is no religious prohibition against alcohol, don't know where that one came from.

Then, since it's been done the same way for thousands of years, people still do it, because, you know, cheese makes you constipated and it makes baby Jesus cry.

I know, I know, some dork is going to now tell me how ignorant I am about religion and blah, blah, blah. But you know what? I don't care. I believe religions are a sham and are more harmful than good. They are one of the major causes of strife and misery in the world, yet religion is somehow supposed to give you hope and enlightenment. Bullsh|t to that. Oh, and you can follow whatever magic man or pray to whatever head of lettuce you want to. Just keep you fvcking mouth shut about it when you're around me. I don't need you trying to convert me and get me into your cult.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled thread...

So... you want us to keep our mouths shut when we're around you... but you think it's fine to openly spout to us about what you think? I hope you run into a convention of Baptists who just happen to be extra preachy on that particular day. THEN maybe you'll know how it feels to be preached to like you are preaching to us now. Being hypocritical, stupid and ignorant is a bad combination, buddy.

Kosher dietary laws prohibit the mixing of meat an milk products.

That means no cheeseburgers, parmesan on spaghetti, or most Mexican foods.

Probably a healthy diet, but not fun.

Usually only Orthodox Jews follow this. Half my family is Jweish and they do not follow this.

Nah I feel sorry for them because they are a dieing breed. Their population levels are decreasing worldwide, and will continue to do so.

What are you talking about?!

I'm agnostic, born and raised Baptist. I look at all religions and see their quirks, most are from some bizarre passage in a holy book that was interpreted a certain way by a religious person way back and his interpretation has been followed blindly throughout the years.

People should make their own interpretations rather than following the ideas of another human as if they were the exact words of Jesus, Allay, Yahweh or whoever. I feel sad for these people and consider them sheep.

To me this means don't prepare meat by boiling it in milk. Anything else would be someone reading into it. You can further break this down and determine by kid, they mean baby goats...So don't boil baby goats in goats milk. Now go out and have a deep dish pan pizza on me, tell your Rabbi that Nitemare said it was ok.

Friday night we'll be drinkin' Manishevitz
Goin' out to terrorize Goyem
Stompin' shagitz, screwin' shicksas
As long as we're home by Saturday mornin
Cause hey, we're the Brews
Sportin' anti - swastika tattoos
Oi Oi we're the boys
Orthodox, hesidic, O. G. Ois

Orthopedic, Dr. Martins good for
Waffle making, kickin' through the shin
Reputation, gained through intimidation
Pacifism no longer tradition

Cause hey we're the Brews
Sportin' anti - swastika tattoos
Oi Oi we're the Brews
The fairfax ghetto boys skinhead Hebrews

We got the might, psycho mashuganas
We can't lose a fight, as we are the chosen ones

We celebrate, we'll separate our milkplates from our meat
