My best friend made the kosher switch a fews ago. It was different for me when I visited. Anything I had that wasn't kosher wasn't allowed in the kitchen. My pepperoni pizza stayed on the floor outside the kitchen. He had two sets of plates and dishes, one for meat and other for dairy. I had to wash my hands every time I ate something non-kosher and then went back to the kitchen. Strange thing is he's from America and has lived here all his life. His fiancee is 5th generation Isrealli (land-wise) from near Haifa. She didn't really follow the kosher rules other than no pork until he got the religious kick.
