Not sure about battery life in my iPod mini.
Just bought a brand new ipod mini last week and I must say the battery life on that really sucks balls. I had it fully charged for over 5 hours on Thursday night but didnt use it (had it off) till Monday and I only have 1 bar left!!! Damn ipod is less than 2 weeks old.
What gives?

dayg that is normal for the iPod. The battery 'dies' when you don't use it for some reason. It just doesn't keep the same charge when you don't use it and leave it off for 2 days.

Do make sure you shut it off by holding down play and it shutting of that way and not just have it in sleep.

PSP battery works much better. I can put it in sleep for 24hrs and it doesn't affect battery and when I turn to use it after a 3-5 days it has the same amount I left it with.

I'll for sure get one at $150.

The DS is $150 and the PSP is $250 at launch(they are only shipping "value packs"). Good luck finding a PSP for $250 as of now, most places are in to the forced bundle phase of preorders($400 give or take with three games and the 'value pack').

Does anyone know if PSP can surf the web?

Not currently supported, and I'm not sure that it is likely to be. The DS is going after the PDA market, the PSP is going after the iPod's.

not true at all.. walk into a EB or a gamestop..
you can preorder with no bundle..
I did mines here for 249.00 with no games on thurdsay 24th.
Never web shop for games or systems.. they always screw ya.. real stores and preorder is always better.

Is there a big difference between Memorystick and Memorystick DUO? Regular memorystick seems much cheaper. Is regular memorystick compatible with the PSP?

I got one last night. Went to my local Target, which had a bunch of them left. There was about 5 people buying it at the same time. The kid that worked at the cash register said that almost everyone that bought one, bought one or two games, and signed up for a Target Card to save 10%. I did it too, so I got the PSP, and NFS:Rivals for $270 plus tax. The games are ok. Not as good as I thought they were going to be. Kind of grainy. I looked pretty carefully for any dead pixels, as I can't stand them. The movies, and videos (Spiderman2, and the samples) is where this thing looks incredible. I really wish there was a way to burn movies on the little disks.

Bestbuy, Target, Wal-mart, EB games...Gamestop...each place I went to yesterday on the 2nd day of its release had tons of them on the shelves when I was looking for games. And I live in Las Vegas.

Really? I haven't tried looking for one here because I thought the PSP was going to be one of those "first day sell-out items". I wouldn't buy one even if I saw it on the shelf because it's too expensive for what it is, the games are inappropriately priced (portable games should be $25 in my book) and the software titles are very limited.

Hey Koing I notice that you have the Blade DVD. That is an awesome movie, definitely underrated!

A sharp eye I see

Yeah it is a cool movie. I think I'll watch it again soon or in fact encode it to my PSP

test some h264 videos

I have. Just not updated the thread about it.

The quality is decent.

I got Road to Perdition down to 280Mb and it looks GOOD. Quality is good. ONLY down side at the moment is the encoding is limited to only 320x240 so it doesn't take the full advantage of the 480x272 resolution. The movies have 4 display options and so you can watch widescreen stuff in widescreen. The people just look tall and thin but when you watch it on the PSP with the 'widescreen' option the people look normal again.

1) Normal (fits top and bottom but you have black bars on the side): Basically zoom's the 320:240 res to fit the 480x272 top and bottom BUT you have bars on either side.

2) Stretch: Streches the video to fit the whole of the PSP screen. People look 'fat'

3) Widescreen: Unstrettches the 320:240 so you get the right 'look'. So if you encoded a widescreen movie it will look EXACTLY the same as it does on the DVD.

4) Original. Maps 1:1 pixels and you get borders on all 4 sides. For the 'purists' AV guy

It has frame by frame also and slow mo. The frame by frame is a very cool feature for me and something I was hoping they would have in it. Good for analysis of lifting for me.

Can't wait for WipeOut Pure and GT4m

what exactly did you do to get Road To Perdition so small? I'm using PSP Video 9, and I don't think outside of a crazy low video/audio bitrate and 15FPS I could even get close to that. I've converted a DVD (90 mins) into mp4, and with any settings I've tried I don't get less then 570 megs for the movie. I'm impressed you fit a longer movie in much less space. Write a guide or something man
