If he had been talking about Jews, would you say the same thing?
Yes.

He can say it all he wants, just as the KKK can have a rally on the steps of the courthouse. That doesn't mean we aren't going to say "You're a moron" . Do you expect us to pat him on the back for his strong views?

What does respecting other people have to do with liberal or conservative?
But since your making it political, I guess the only people allowed to whine can do so when it comes to the "gays", immigrants and ACLU taking over the world from the morallly superior religious right, but need to be silent when it comes to American soldiers getting mowed down on a daily basis.

It's obvious Carbo's post was a thinly veiled attack against liberalism, but it's more telling that he chooses to loosely align himself with Hardaway to make his point, no matter how irrelevant it is.

Isn't it ironic that every time some deviant comes out of the closet, the media and his ilk applaud, proclaiming how brave this person is to share with all of us his/her sexual behavior. Yet, when someone of the opposing viewpoint comes forth, he is an ignorant moron who needs to apologize and perform public service in the gay community. I can't understand the discrepancy.

The fact is, he isn't going to lose his fan base for saying what he said.
Most of his fan base probably feel the same.

You're welcome to that point of view, but I'm not coming to your rally. Also, look up irony.

The difference is when someone "comes out of the closet" they are not discriminating against others. They are not making derogatory comments about others. They are not claiming to hate others due to their sexual preference.
They are simply disregarding the fear that comes with the territory, not expressing a negative opinion about a group.

Deviant? The only deviants are people such as yourself, blinded by ancient beliefs and hatred towards people that pose no threat to you (unless you have gay leanings and fear turning in to one).
I'm 100% straight but don't impose my worldview on others and respect people for who they are, as long as they are following the law. You on the other hand, are fighting a battle that will never be won, the path to progress and equality for all in the industrialized world is moving fast and will never revert back to the unconstitutional methods you and your ilk would impose upon law abiding "deviants"

Because the discrepancy has to do with the root of each action, you MORON. Now, I'm not saying that out of the fact that you're a bigot, I say so because you fail to draw the logical conclusions and the differences between each situation, one being a situation of acceptance, the other being one of unjustifiable hatred (you).

He is entitled to his views even if he clearly isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

The NBA however clearly takes a dim view of its players making bigoted spectacles of themselves in public media.

Gays in the various professional sports has always been a taboo topic but there seems to be indications, from what I've read, that are a sizable number of them.

There is no discrepancy. Coming out of the closet, as you put it, and saying you hate gays is not the same thing. The key word here is HATE.

I agree. He can be whoever he wants to be.

So, if I say I hate Blacks, Asians or filthy stinking Mexicans it's okay because I'm just being who I want to be?

Since when is it okay to promote hatred and intolerance of a certain group of people in our society?

Learn to read then, I didn't state that homosexuality was the path to anything.
Treating people as equals (heck they pay taxes like we do and have to follow the same rules and laws as we do) is.

homosexuality is the "path to progress" as much as oral sex is. And whether someone other than yourself participates in homosexuality or oral sex, the end result on you is about the same - nil.

The issue is of tolerance and discrimination, that is the "path to progress". The trick is that we don't discriminate against people who have oral sex in terms of their legal rights. The same should go for gender preference.

If you hate something, then stand up and say it.
Personally I don't really hate any particular group of people.
But I do hate Kias. They are just not very good cars in my opinion.
The fact is, if you are anything, and want to admit it openly, you have to be ready to have people high and low disagree with your view. To take a stand against your stand.

I am much more interested in why he hates homosexuals.
I've always felt that if you can come to a conclusion than your reasons must be clear.
And it's the funniest thing when people try to explain why they hate homosexuals, because it's never what the people "think", it's what they were "taught."

Still sounds pretty silly for a man who plays with balls all day.
