16-24 is legal here, as long as both of you are in that age range. I don't see a problem with a 5 year age split...chances are your maturities are about the same at this point. The only problem I had in dating younger (as in < 23 years old) is many have too many sexual hangups or try to do too much at one time to impress.
most chicks are identical (at least around 1990ish) from 16-20 in my opinion mentally and physically unless they have been out living on their own a bit.
The next group is the 18-23 year olds that may have been living on their own a few years.
I always preferred dating the 30ish to mid 30's chick since my early 20's. There isn't a lot of drama, they are usually still going out to parties and clubs, if you have sex they don't think the next thing to do is marry them or even date them seriously.
Every once in a while I would hook up with a 20 something year old and so many times I swore never again...not much different than high school. Which may be cool for some.
