For most of the year the house is peaceful and empty in the morning when I get ready since the wife usually leaves before I wake up. She's a teacher so that changes in the summer. Starting this morning I now have to deal with her super annoying habits like:
existing in the house when I wake up
and
saying annoying things like "Good morning." and "How are you?"

Ugh - 2.5 more months of this crap.

I pref Winter over Summer. Anyone agree?

Yes

I'll take shoveling/snowblowing over mowing, picking weeds, fixing sprinkler systems, etc...

Summer is just a hot, miserable time of year that actually causes me to stay inside more than spring or fall because it's so hot I'm never comfortable.

No way! I love summer! Love the heat, the smells of honysuckle, the green grass, the memories of freedom I had as a kid with my friends riding bikes, staying out all day, etc.

That's the thing though, the grass is greenest in SPRING. Things are blooming, the weather is warm but not hot. Everything is great

In summer you have to water things a ton to keep it fully green, but a lot of people just let it go dormant depending on the climate. So the grass often looks pretty dry and brown at the height of summer. There's some nice things about it, but summer proper is too hot for me to enjoy.

I can't stand being outside. I love being inside climate controlled buildings without bugs and shit trying to fly into my face. And the mosquitoes blow too

Spring means lotsa rain...you do not enjoy the rain when you have a kid playing HS Softball. Too many dang rainouts!

I agree. I love love love summer. Give me 85+ degree days all year long. This weekend we hiked and camped out in 95 degree temps and had a blast. I hate being cold, but don't mind the warmth of the sun.

:awe: My wife is a teacher too. She's off starting tomorrow. Actually it's not too bad because usually my mother-in-law is taking care of our daughter, but during the summer my wife does and she likes to take little trips during the day while my mother-in-law doesn't. That means for a few fleeting hours I have the house completely to myself when I'm working from home. Ahh peace and quiet...

Today's the last day of classes. Then six 3-hour reviews for state exams, lots of paperwork, regional grading for 2 days, inventory of my classroom, and then summer vacation. 12 days 1 hour until freedom! Freedom is short-lived though. 2 days off, then it's off to either Buff State or Univ of Buffalo for a class.

Today is your last day? Good grief. My daughter has been out since the 19th of May. They go back on August 10th. When do you guys start up again?

Summer is literally hell. It's when satan comes up and spews heat, grass, mosquitos, and misery across my life. Long nights and cool weather are like paradise. I like autumn best of all, but winter is nice, especially during jul season.

I can't stand it when teachers post on FB - 10 more days till summer vacation - we need it! Yeah great you worked 180 days of the year, not even full days, while the rest of us are at about 250.

For a lot of them they are full days. And it varies by school but a lot of places depend on teachers spending time coaching\supervising\running various school programs in return for a measly stipend that usually works out to be well below minimum wage. My wife a tiny stipend to be the Student Council adviser which worked out to be something like $4/hr

Ha - she already knows about how I feel about her being around in the morning in the summer. We're pretty open and direct with eachother. Saves time and reduces complications

I don't care what the season is as long as there's no smoke in the air. Hate my neighborhood choking with fireplace/woodstove smoke in the winter and wildfires in the summer and fall. The rainfall or temperature variance is incidental.

I'm aware, as I know many teachers and associated staff - they also do it to pad their pensions so it's not about immediate payoff. And many are hardly stressed. Many (as in the average) here earn 6 figures too (making it easy to afford being here so there are many unionized teachers living among us). My point is they should be the last ones openly expressing relief about finally getting time off, especially when we work longer/harder to pay their salaries. There are more than enough school vacation days throughout the year too.

Our heat waves go like this: low temps about 72 with highs about 92-96 with 90+% humidity continuously from mid-May through end of October.

I agree with the OP ... I dislike Summer in the south with a passion.

I don't know about other teachers, but I sat at the dining room table yesterday from noon until 3:10am correcting the last week's worth of quizzes, and final exams for 2 classes. (Sunday) I'm online for a few minutes to try to catch my sanity, then another couple of hours correcting precalculus and calculus final exams, and about an hour to prepare for 3 hours of physics review tomorrow.
