Tip with the dentist: There's a credit service called CareCredit that will give you 6-12-or 18 month free financing on medical bills. We use it a lot and it helps keep from draining your cash on surprise gigantic bills.

I have access to other 18 month free financing (which I used this time around).

Goal is to pay it off within few months (wishful thinking I know).

Both my wife and I made a mistake by not going to the dentist for 3 years. I ended up with 4 cavities and she had 6........lesson learned.

I'm pretty sure nobody in real life has 6 months salary sitting in checking. Majority of people live pay check to pay check if that.

Over 6 months of expenses sitting in several high paying interest reward checking accounts here (from 2% to 4%).

But I am single and no kid(s)/wife so my expenses are much lower than ones with family/kids.

Heheh...that changes quick when you put a ring on it and she starts dropping larva. My kids can smell money in my wallet. I'll get $100 in cash on Friday for the weekend and it's gone by noon the next day.

Things have changed. I used to feel the same but Americans make quality cars now days.

I keep reading this claim everywhere, that American cars have improved. Well maybe they have, but my family owns several dealerships, both American and Japanese makes. They still do a lot less warranty work on the Japanese brands. Although VW and Audi seem to be even worse than the American cars.

That's a given VM tries to squeeze too much goofy tech into their mechanics, making everything unnecessarily complicated. Audi is owned by VW, and their practices came with them.

Porsche, Mercedes, and BMW are much more reliable and solid, but they also tend to be out of the common person's price range. What then happens is people buy used models in these brands and complain when they need expensive maintenance. "My 125K mile BMW needs a new BELT??? German cars suck!"

We were looking into this for her 22 year old daughter, but I pay for her phone and they said you need one in your own name.

Actually, it's 40% who live paycheck to paycheck. Interestingly, that includes more women than men.

That's more than likely including only those working especially when you consider 16% of our nation lives in poverty.
