I have lost my wallet!

I have lost my wallet. Normally I wouldn't care too much, but I had just taken $500 out of the bank, and that cash was still in my wallet. ID, social security card, insurance cards, all gone. Luckily none of my credit or ATM cards were in my wallet.

I can't think of any place where I could have lost it. Only thing I can think of is that the guy who came to the house to fix the hot water heater may have taken it. One of my friends said he was poking around where he shouldn't have been. Coincidentally, this same repairman came to our house last year to service the air conditioner, and my friend's gameboy came up missing immediately after his visit.

Have to blame myself, though. I should know by now to never have so much cash in my wallet at once. I think I will file a police report now...

ALWAYS follow repair/servicemen around as soon as they enter your home. Why didn't this happen ?

Think very hard before you file a police report based off a hunch. It's possible you put it down somewhere and just forgot about it.

Oh, I am not going to accuse the repairman. I am just going to file a report stating that my wallet is gone. Hopefully they will give me some sort of temporary, replacement ID to use until I have time to get a new one.

I was not aware that the repairman was coming to the house. I was asleep in my bedroom while the repairman was doing his thing. I left my wallet on my computer desk, which happens to be in the basement family room. Had I known he was coming, I would have made sure that my wallet was not in a place where he could have gotten to it.

Were I still married to my ex-wife, that certainly would have been a possibility!

If the same repairman was suspected of stealing an item during the repair of the air conditioner last year, why was the same person let back in the house this year?

That way Unkempt1 would have KNOWN he stole it, because he knew the money was in there before. This way, he's not sure if he lost it or if it was stolen.

Try contacting the Better Business Bureau and see if there have been a lot of complaints against the guy's company.
