Well i'm not a big fan of powercolor... I would buy XFX, Sapphire, MSI, ASUS and Gigabyte before a powercolor card... Though it's not really based on experience just the perception that I have of them (ie I might be wrongly biased against them). I don't mean that they are an absolute do not buy ever like ECS though lol.
How did you manage to up the voltage on that card (it's the one with the ''car looking'' shroud with the fan in the middle and copper heatpipe out of the top right?) and can you do it on the 5850 and 5830 models with the same cooler?
i didn't pick it; i always look for price among similar A-i-Bs. AMD sent it to me because i believe they are proud of their mature process and overclocking abilities. i know they didn't cherry pick it or i would be over 1GHz now. i don't believe that Nvidia nor AMD are quite the "old" companies they were. They have both matured imo.
Yes, that is the description; i would post a pic of it but my permissions for posting attachments are not enabled. i posted a pic of it in my own review as "AMD's answer to GTX 480" as it arrived the Friday the NDA expired.
AMD is signaling two things
1. There is no price war
2. They are not going to rush to bring out "5890"; they will let their partners compete with overclocked cards
i got it to overclock with Afterburner and i was able to unlock the voltage when i edited the config files. i had to play with it for quite a long time,
And there might have been some good luck for me as other reviewers have been unsuccessful with it.
