K, Im looking to join the wet side. My only problem is im a cheap sucker and dont want to spend the $200 to buy one of those kits. However, I dont do well with making stuff (meaning I dont want to make my own water block and Resevor and pump, and.......). So I hear that it is cheapest buying stuff seperate. Well, I have not purchased them yet, but I can get a whole setup for around $150. I was just woundering if there was anyone here that could maybe point me in the right direction to get all the stuff I need for a lower price. (BTW I need everything exept for the case so any place full of water cooling stuff would be nice) also I was woundering. 3/8 or 1/2. which is better. I was thinking that the 3/8 would be mostly because it would have less strain on the system. Ohh and I have read a lot of the articals from overclockers.com

BTW Also remembered. For distilled water can I use something like Dessan Water or some other bottled water?

Distilled water is best. You dont want ANY impurities, ions etc etc in the water. The reason is so if it leaks, it wont kill your computer. Water isnt what kills electronics, its the ions from impurities that do.

Parts - the only place I remember off the top of my head is dangerden.com . But lemme give you some advice. you do not wanna go cheap on these parts. Just the opposite. You want the best money can buy. The last thing you want is water spraying thru your comp cuz your crappy hose or radiator sprung a leak.

K. btw though shouldnt Coca Cola's Dessan Water be distiled. I mean it is what they advertize is Pure water.

mmmmmmmm..............just thought i would clear up a few things...first, distilled water is NOT "de-ionized", it is just mostly pure water w/o minerals and COMMON contaminates...........true de-ionized water is useful for some scientific applications, but the market is specailized and that = hard to come by and/or expensive............plus that it is hard to "keep" it pure (container must be pure, all your hoses, resevor, pump must be pure, it will absorb contaminates from the air, etc), so, you plan on renting a clean room, decontaminating your water system, fill it while wearing a bunny suite

uuummm, even pure, deionized water can kill electronics, first by picking up contaminates on the electronics themselves, and so would not be "pure" anymore= short, and also by rusting out vulnerable metals....... yes "pure" water STILL accelerates oxidation(rust)

so to make a long story short, use distilled water for the same reason your supposed to in you cars cooling system, to cut down on corrosion. as far as coming up with some exotic fluid for "in case it leaks" just put together or buy a decent setup that is reliable. If it would be catasprophic for you to have coolant leak or failure cuasing damage, then you dont need to be meesing with it in the first place...

My setup costs me about $70. I got a heater core for a Ford Escort 1988 w/air conditioning for $18. Then I got a Rio 2100 high capacity water pump for $28. Then a cheap CPU f\block from BeCooling for $15. Add assorted lines from Home Depot and a couple of case fans to finish the setup.
