i need a new hobby

I am finding myself bored at the moment. I have a girlfriend, i go to work, uni now and then and see my mates in between then.

But i want a new hobby- my mates are into surfing but im not too keen myself.

I used to be into motorbike riding, but sold my bike, and am almost keen to get back into offroad riding.

Throw suggestions! I want something i can strive to be good at like- but nothing gay, like darts or scrapbooking.

Find some sort of exercise you like and stick to it. It's good for stress management and helps ya feel better.

You like to build stuff? Start with some simple projects, build up a workshop, make awesome stuff.

I've done all sorts of projects. Wood working such as bookcases and aquarium stands. Electronics work such as control systems with microcontrollers or little robots. Right now I'm building a tesla coil.

yeh car audio a bit expensive, although am really unhappy with the new speakers i put in my car.

drinking i used to be right into but lately just havnt found the time. will take that hobby up real soon i promise..

perhaps programming i could try.... ive done a years worth of JAVA at uni and SQL etc... is C hard to grasp? I seem to have good ideas for programs just have no idea how to get them on paper.

yeh ive always wanted to build stuff as well..but im too gumby! my best mate just built a bar in his shed and its awesome.. ive always been into cars and mechanics but just don't have anywhere to continue learning.. perhaps save up and get a project car that could be cool hey

Start small (this has the advantage of being cheap too ). Don't try to build a house for your first project or you'll be really disappointed.

Jeeping. You can get into it for pretty cheap (if Australia is anything like the US with jeep prices). Just get a cherokee for cheap, slap a budget lift on it, and go abuse it.

I second photography. You can get in to it for reasonably cheap (D40 kit or similar) and it's a great way to take up time and learn to see things in different ways.
