I need new Tires

There was a nice coupon for Americas Tires a while back, and with the warranty they'll pretty much replace the tire within the warranty no questions... have already had to do so twice.

Sears, they price match any online deal or any price. I"ve gotten them lower than tirerack by 10-15%. Easy thing is you can just call them up, go get your tires put on and other little maintenance items and be done with it.

Costco because...well, they're Costco.

Tire Rack is a GREAT place to do business with.
Installation from one of Tire Rack's installers shouldn't run more than about $25-$30/tire.

Never thought of ordering tires online. How much does it cost to ship 4 tires?

Tireracked mine without problems. Cost to ship was ~$60 directly to an installer (identified by their website too). When they get them in, they are supposed to call you in (before ordering, call installer to make sure it's all ok with them). Then install was like $125 mounted/balanced.

The difference is that if you had bought the tires from the installer (more expensive), they are usually able to give you a free warranty for a few years should any problems arise.

I'm going to catch hell for this, but I usually go to the local Firestone place. I favor Bridgestone's Potenza line (not the OEM tires in it though) as they have always given me good wear and good grip. There usually isn't much of a price difference between them and places like Tire Rack.

I just go to the local speed shop that for some reason has the reputation of overpriced.

I just ask them to and they match TireRack prices, don't cost any more than anywhere else for balancing, etc., and the last time I got tires I also got an oil change, new fuel filter, radiator flush, new springs and an alignment all at the same place.

Call around, you'd be surprised what places like this, or like ZV says, the local Firestone place will do.

I bought some tires at the Tire Rack online. They were much cheaper, but I had a hard time finding a shop that would put them on for me. They were giving weak reasons like "I can't install those tires because they're from an unknown source and could be poor quality...". That kind of thing. Which was a bunch of crap because the same guys were trying to sell me the exact same tires for about $400 more.

I finally got them installed as the local Discount Tire Store. They want way too much to install someone else's tires ($80), but I was tired of looking so I did it. Most of these local places seem to subsidize the install price with higher tire prices.

So, I'm just saying find a place that will install internet tires for a reasonable price and take that into consideration also.

I wouldn't call $80 that much for installing four tires. Sounds like a good deal. I will see if some place can price match though. Thank you all for the responses and input.
