Win2k is alot more stable than WinME is and that is probely why you cant get as good of an overclock, I suggest you stick with Win2k if you can.

it very well might have to do ith the fact that win2k uses acpi more efficiently than any other windows OS(not sure but its a guess) i know that acpi mainly has to do with cpu cooling and such so maybe youre over heating in winME? just some food for thought. nice overclock by the way, i think i may have to trade my kt7/raid for one of these.

Win2K includes the HLT command as part of the System Idle thread. The HLT command "halts" the processor and essentially places it into sleep mode, cooling the processor down when idle. This is probably why your Win2K does better than WinME.

Have you considered using a better form of cooling, ie larger/more efficient HSF?

yeah the HLT command is in there BUT will have no effect @ 100% CPU usage which this gentleman is doing (correct me if I'm wrong dingdong)

I cant even overclock at all in WIN ME It is the most unstable OS ever used.........HATE IT. I use WIN 2K and can get my duel celerons (366) to run stable at 533 i have even had them up to 605 but it is unstable and crashes after each round of counters-strike....and wont download a file that is usable but still pretty great numbers!! I* keep them at 533 works fine and doubled with tnt 16meg and an IBM deskstar 7200 rpms keeps with most machines twice its size.....the best thing is the cost 50-ish for each cpu 130 for the deskstar 40 or less for tnt under 100 for abit bp6 you cant miss!!

At what voltage are you running your t-bird? I'm sure you had to turn the voltage up to get to 1.41ghz. Try going one setting higher with the voltage unless you are already at it's limit. I have seen posts from people running these t-birds at over 2v.
